Hi, had my 28 week consultant appt and I've been told baby is still lying sideways (head on right). Anyone experience this? I'm pretty sure dc1 was head down very early on. I'm have an elective caesarean anyway so I suppose its doesn't matter. Some of the movements this little bean does are quite sore!! Xx

Hi Smile yes it is still quite early on for you, the baby could probably flip round quite a lot still, as there is still time. I was told at 33 weeks he was transverse, head on right just like you, then half a week later was being told by consultant he is head down, but could still turn again. I am now 34 weeks and will find out next week if he is still head down. It did feel uncomfortable whilst he was laying that way, but then again I am feeling quite uncomfortable now anyway Grin

Hey, I'm 31 weeks and baby has been transverse for quite a while. Have a midwife appointment soon So will ask more about it then. I hope to have a vaginal birth so hope the baby moves. I've a horrible feeling she is quite comfortable where she is. I am starting to find her kicks quite uncomfortable now. But I'm not sure if this would be the same in another position. Hope you're not too uncomfortable op

Hey Tori, how come you won't be doing the turning procedure, if you don't mind me asking?
also if the baby stays transverse is it normal to have to go into hospital from 37 weeks? Or it is something specific to your circumstances. .... wondering if I need to be prepared if she stays transverse...?!

I had my 28 week appointment last week and was told baby was transversed. The midwife told me this was to be expected at this stage and not to worry

Have a look at the spinning babies website. There's loads of tips on there. Mine was traverse and then breech at 29+5, I then did a couple of the exercises from the website especially where you sit with your bum in the air and head on the floor. Baby did not like that one bit and has since moved to head down position as confirmed at my 31 week scan.

I'm pretty sure my last baby was transverse Til about 27 weeks. She turned herself.

RugBugs · 28/04/2015 11:34

I remember DD2 favoured transverse at 28wks, she moved into a better position at 32wks but didn't enter my pelvis until just before transition stage in labour (via a few hairy minutes where she was back to back).
26wks atm and this one likes to move between transverse and head up/feet on bladder 4 times a day.

One of my twins was transverse until around 30 weeks. It was so flipping uncomfortable, my tummy was so squashed!

Then he turned head down.

I still had a section because his brother, who was closer to the exit, was footling breech.

Spinning babies website has loads of tips and also there's plenty of time for baby to turn!

My DD was transverse/oblique until 33w, she turned herself without intervention. I'm currently 32w with #2 who is exactly the same, keeping my fingers crossed this one turns too. You have ages yet, try not to worry.

Dc1 was transverse right up until week before date of c section was going to be finalised.
Little monkey.
This time baby was again in an awkward position. ( head to the left diaganol and bum to right higher up ). Last scan last week apparently his head was nearer to bead down but he's moved again.
Hoping he gets there soon. I'm 32 weeks.
They still have time!! ( I say preying)

DS was in a transverse lie up to 34-35 weeks, when he stretched and stuck his head/ feet into my ribs it used to take my breath away Blush. My midwife was very meh about the whole thing. She promised me he'd turn- and he did!

PazRaz1975 · 29/04/2015 16:45

I was due to have moxibustion last week for a transverse little one, and an ECV today - baby had turned already so no need for either - 37 weeks last week!
