Bleeding at 33 weeks? Scared

Hi everyone, I just woke up and I went the toilet, wiped and there was quite a bit of blood mixed with the usual stuff, I have never bled before in my whole pregnancy. I'm just worried, is this normal? Should I go see a midwife? Sad

Definitely ring the hospital and I'm pretty sure they will tell you to come in for check up straight away. Any bleed in pregnancy should be investigated.

Ring delivery suite ASAP.

Definitely get it checked, but don't panic - there are lots of reasons why you can bleed, and most of them are benign. The cervix can be very sensitive, and so sex can cause a small amount of bleeding. It could also just be that the baby is kicking at the placenta. So there's no need to think that anything awful is happening, but go and let someone look to make sure. Best of luck.

Thanks for your help everyone, just called up and they have told me to come in like. Everything's just scaring me lately I don't know what's normal or not

If you can keep something to show the MW the amount of blood, it'd be helpful. I know when I had a small bleed at 28 weeks, they were very interested in how much and over what period of time. They listened to the baby's heartbeat and put me on a trace, then had a doctor check me over. All was well. But all bleeding in pregnancy should be checked out asap. Fingers crossed for you!

Bleeding is never normal, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. Worse case scenario is a placental abruption, which is rare but very dangerous.

amandalk91 · 27/04/2015 08:35

Unfortunately flushed the proof haha, it did just look like the amount I'd have on a period. I feel like I'm on my period aswell which is weird but obviously that could just be my normal aches and stuff, hopefully it's nothing but I'll get back to you all anyway thank you x

Best of luck! Fingers crossed it's nothing

Could it a been a bit of show? Sometimes that can be bloody but it's quite thick and mucusy. Good luck your doing the right thing getting checked out. Hope everything is ok.

seaoflove · 27/04/2015 08:50

It's a bit early for a show, and shows tend not to be period type bleeding. Just last week I was talking to a MW, who said that period like bleeding always warrants a call to delivery suite, because it's not normal.

Hi, I know it’s very old post. But would you be able to update me on this? I have similar scenario now, been to doctors nothing could be detected apart from low lying placenta.

CoalCraft · 11/12/2020 12:47

I know this is an old post but just to say I had this at 33 weeks and it turned out to be a heavy bloody show. In less than four hours I'd given birth.
