can I request a sweep at 37weeks

I'm 37weeks with DC 2 and have serviour SPD I am seeing a consultant tomorrow morning to find out what they can do, I have had the support belt crutches and codine but nothing works I'm still in to much pain to even put my underwear on. I have a daughter 20 months old and can't bath her anymore as the pain is to much but I still battle through it as best I can. Its got my mood rock bottom and Im worried my depression will return if I don't get better soon.
Dose anyone no anyone who has had something relatively the same I'm going to ask for a sweep asap but not sure what they will even say?

poor you Op, it truly is the worst, isn't it?
I was induced at 38 weeks with ds2 (my third baby) because of my SPD. To be honest I don't know if I would say yes again. I wasn't ready at 38 weeks, my bishop scores were constantly low, it took a week in hospital with the pessaries and membrane sweeps round the clock. The largest handed man in the world rammed his hand up me and decided I was favourable so they took me through to break my waters. Where a much nicer, normal sized female doctor really struggled to do so (it was excruciating and she said the hardest one she had done). Labour didn't start so they put me on the damn drip which put poor Ds into distress so I was flat on my back, pegs in stirrups so they could monitor him, which of course is the worst thing you can do with SPD.
Thankfully we all pulled through but it was a horrible labour, almost an emergency CS, distressed baby, crippled mum... Third degree tear also needed stirrups to stitch. My recovery time to get back on my feet was about 48 hours and I continued to need my crutches fir a week, still get twinges now three years later.
What I took from the whole thing was That my body wasn't ready to labour at 38 weeks, have you thought about just asking for a c section up Front?
I think your reasons are sound and I was feeling so guilty about all the tramadol my baby was getting through me that I decided to go for it when offered. But midwives and docs sometimes wave around the term induction like it is an event that will work, not a week long process that leaves your hips worse than before.
If I could do it again I would beg for a c section.

Was going to say you could request a c section at 38 weeks. I know a friend did this.

For my last baby I was induced bang on my due date, I felt if I could see the end post I could struggle on, but he was my fourth baby having had fast natural births preciously and at 40 weeks he was ready to come out and the induction was easy.

I agree with Oscars mum, I would ask for a c section straight off. I feel your pain I am 37 weeks and have a prolapsed disc and severe sciatica. I am also on codeine and have an appt with the consultant on Thurs. I am going to say I want a c section. My doctor has said I need to come off the codeine soon and the thought of a couple of weeks without painkillers is unbearable. Sounds like you have a reasonable medical case for a c section. Read up on the nice guidelines on them before you go so you know what you are entitled to. Good luck let us know how you get on

Wow that's a bad experience I'm not sure what to do im scared for cs just for the fact I have a 20month old as well and I no it takes longer to heal with that but at the same time I no the baby's a big one already. I've been getting heavy discomfort down below and mw has said his heads engaged so its all looking good I just can't bare the constant pain anymore I want to be able to take my daughter out and play in the house ect with her I feel like I'm pushing her aside and that's the last thing I want to do, I'm finding it rather hard but I feel bad that I feel like this as well I would love him to arrive when he's ready but I just can't do it I will ask about the cs and the sweep see what they say but I have a feeling they will shrug it of and say he will come when he comes kind of thing. I'm taking the codine reluctantly I hate taking any form of medication while pregnant hehe just don't like the thought of baby getting it but I'm having to not that it even dose much to be honest.
Well roll on tomorrow see what they say fingers and toes are crossed they can do something.

I came back on to say sorry for the negitivity and also to say dedefinitely get the epidural in that situation, my biggest regret from the while debacle was declining the fecking epidural.
Glad yours went well kitty! Can I ask how your SPD progressed over the pregnancies? Just because we are mulling over a fourth but am scared to end up permanently wrecked! Sorry to hijack...

My SPD got worse with each pregnancy, I was crippled in agony with the last one, by the end I was setting my alarm clock half an hour before I had to get up so I could take cocodamol just so I could get out of bed.

I had a 5, 4 and not yet 2 year old at the time too DH was down to working 3 day weeks at the end as we have no family help. I could do nothing from 5 months onwards.

It's horrendous SPD the belts did nothing for me I had physio too I had a misaligned right SI joint as well the physio said there was nothing she could do as my joints were too elastic , it was a wheelchair or cocodamol which I hated taking but I had no choice.

Mine practically goes on delivery 5 years on I still get the odd twinge in my right side but I'm fine now.

Had the appointment but to be honest was a waste of time they said I have to stop taking the codine and will be seen in 2 weeks to discuss inducing me. I'm hoping baby will come before that but who knows.
The next time I go I will due baby 6 days later so might just have to grin and bare till he's ready I'm lucky to have had my 1st baby and even more lucky to have fallen pregnant a second time. I have endometriosis and adhesions.
I had my daughter 5 days early so the midwifes are expecting him to come a bit earlier so fingers crossed.

Has anyone had a sweep at 37 weeks. Seeing my midwife tomorrow at 37+2 being induced at 38 weeks as baby is off the centile chart, I've already had two large babies
I've been having such bad braxtons since 26 weeks and was on co codamol but stopped two weeks ago and the braxtons are unbearable
I just want her out. I'm not sleeping as the pains are so bad.
Is my midwife allowed to do a sweep tomorrow at 37+2
