Hi all,
I'm 21 weeks with my second and really starting to suffer with Sciatic pain. Sleeping at night I'm very uncomfortable so sleep with a pillow between my legs.
It is now getting to the point that I go to move and I can't put any pressure on my leg because of the pain.
My midwife gave me a few exercises to do but I struggle to do these.
I'm finding it really hard to pick up my 3 year old.
Do I go to see my gp or speak to my midwife?

Has anyone else suffered from this and found anything to ease it. I feel pathetic that I have it already and I'm dreading the weeks ahead if I'm like this now.

One very sore mummy :( c

Hi OP - I feel for you! Yes i endured it during all four pregnancies in the same hip/leg. It was excruciating and nothing helped until the last time when my brilliant lady consultant sent me down the corridor for acupuncture and cupping. I would not have believed it could work but it did - just one session and bingo the pain was gone.

I am just getting so fed up with it and don't want to end up being in even more pain then I am now :(
It is the worst pain ever. X

Bless you I had it after I have birth last time must be awful while you're pregnant :( I'm expecting second and was told by my physio that next time I was pregnant I must do yoga exercises to relief the sciatic nerve. Are these like the excercise a your midwife suggested?
Hope you are feeling better soon though

She gave me a few like going on all fours, watching my posture etc and then mentioned referring me to physio.
I got it after my first pregnancy and it had gone all together till about 6 weeks ago it slowly started to come back.
I worry that it will happen when I'm out and I'll get stuck. I have to hold onto something to get round the house.
I think I'm gonna go see my gp in the morning and see if there's anything they can suggest and if not I'll call.my.midwife. I can't carry on being in this pain for the next 19 weeks.
Thanks for your replies, it always helps to talk to people who know what pain your in so thank you x

You can use a tennis ball and roll it over your gluteus muscle to release it, as it is likely that this is trapping the sciatic nerve.
Have you considered doing pregnancy Pilates (with a qualified instructor)? That really sorted me out re sciatica and SPD this time

Hope you find something that helps - I remember too well the inability to get up from the floor or bend down to pick a child up and having to be hauled up by DH every time in agony. Sitting crossed legged was always the worst Sad
