I've received a letter in the post with a home appt from a maternity care assistant to discuss feeding options, pregnancy health and classes. None if my friends have heard of this. Anyone else had one? Thanks

If only! It takes 10 phone calls to get to speak to a mw let alone have an assistant come to the bloody house.

Really? I've phoned midwife x 2 (I'm 23 weeks) and they answered the phone straight away and gave calming advice (they gave advice about back pain & exercises/normal pregnant symptoms), must be lucky where I am.

I've never heard of this!
Must be a new thing!

I think it depends on what area you live and what type of care you are under. My friend was under community midwives and she got lots of home visits but I am under the hospital midwives and they definitely don't send anyone out until after you have had the baby and the health visitor comes. It probably varies by region though too.
