Has anyone tried the maxi-cosi 2wayfix base in an audi?

Just went to John Lewis to order a car seat and base. We went for the maxi cosi pebble plus which goes with the 2wayfix base. We ended up not buying the base today because the lady in the shop advised trying it in the car first (and it was out of stock, anyway). Only problem is... we wont be getting our new car until after the baby is born, so we can't take it there for them to try it out.

Has anyone tried this base in an audi q5? The maxi-cosi website says it should fit but the JL shop assistant said to not always trust their website.

We have the Family Fix, which we used with a Cabriofix and now a Pearl, in a Q5. The one factor to beware of is how far forward you might need the seat in front to fit the car seat on top of the base. So long as the baby can sit behind front passenger, you should be ok - for DC1 at least!

Since DD went forward facing we've had a bit more space in front but I think rear facing seats take more space. If you're planning to progress from Pebble Plus to 2 Way Pearl, or another ERF seat, for this child with a future DC2 alongside, space behind the driver will become a factor. Depends how tall you are. Is there another stockist nearby you could test with?

Just remembered what you said about not having the car yet. Any chance you could take a test drive to JL, Mothercare etc?

We've got it in a A4. I don't know if they're similar though!?

Thanks hamsolo - i'd imagine they can't be that different... I would guess all audis would have the same isofix points? I'm definitely no car expert though Grin

mrsmillions - we were thinking we might have to. The audi garage is opposite JL so we may have to pop in and ask them very nicely!

mrsmillions- forgot to say, luckily i'll most likely be in the front passenger seat when both me and dp are in the car and i'm pretty short. Car seats do take up way more room than I expected!

In Babies'r'us the lady checked on the computer to see if it'd fit, nearly said no for my car until we added in that it was the GT edition and then they said yes. I did have the car but we'd taken DH's there and she said we could return it if it didn't fit as their system said it would iyswim?

Might be worth us going into babies r us and asking them then :)

If Audi garage only opposite JL definitely worth asking them to pop over the road with a car.

We've been really happy with our Q5 by the way although amazing how quickly the boot fills up with a pram in there!

I've just seen that it's a Q5! I would say yes as most isofix's (I think all) have the same fixtures but it's just a case of whether the back seat is large enough to hold the whole base and enough space in between footwell and the front seat for the babyseat on top to fit in. Q5's are on the larger side of Audi's, you'd have more space than in the A1 or 3. I do stand to be corrected on the above though. (I wanted to say congratulations on your Audi, what a lovely car but my brain kicked in so baby congratulations, then Audi congratulations! Smile)
