Hey guys, I have done a pregnancy test this morning and tried weeing in a pot but I couldnt aim so well, So I stuck a tiny amount of water in so I could fit the test in... SOoo... I done the test after leaving them in for about 3minutes and one line appeared, Then another but very very faint line appeared on both of the tests.... Anyway I am 2days late but I am always late but me and my boyfriend havent been using anything for 2months. Could this be an early positive??? And yes we are trying to have our first baby! Any Ideas before taking another one in 2 days....

I'm not sure what you mean by 'always late'. That's not really possible.

I'm also not sure what you mean about water.

If you have dipped a pregnancy test in urine and it's showing as positive, then you are pregnant. Grin

Faint lines can be a positive but you need to have followed the directions for the test correctly to rely on it. Never done any myself which involved leaving the stick in the wee for more than a few secs. Do another one to be sure!

Sorry I am so nervous, I mean I pee'd in the pot but I put some water in to fill it up a little bit so I could actually fit the sticks in fully. But I was wondering if this could be why the lines are so faint, I have never done one of these before but one line very very purple and one very faint but visable. ( on both tests )

The very purple line is the control line which shows the test has worked. The other line picks up HCG. That's the usual case but some tests differ slightly. What test is it or even better, do you have a photograph of it?

It should have instructions which tell you what indicates a positive. Sometimes instead of two lines (like this: | | ) a test will need to make a cross to be positive (like this: + | )

Best thing to do is to get another test, read the instructions, pee in a much bigger receptacle like a jug and pour into a small one, test and read.

I'm not following, you left the tests in the urine for 3 minutes? If that's the case then you have probably flooded the test. If so you cannot rely on it showing accurate results.

firesidechat · 24/04/2015 17:25

I don't thing you can rely on this test. The tap water has contaminated the result.

Also did it say to leave it in for 3 minutes? Long time since I needed to do a pregnancy test.

girliefriend · 24/04/2015 17:25

I would do another test first thing tomorrow morning, a faint line is still a line though.......

sarahsmile1990 · 24/04/2015 17:27

The test is from tescos, It has 2 windows, One like a squire and one a circle. The thick purple line is in the circle. The thin purple line is in the squire. The box says that 2 lines visable is a positve result. But being so faint on both has me convinced that I am!

Also if you are always late then you're not actually late are you, but on time for you. It sounds like you have a longer cycle than the average of 28 days.

sarkymare · 24/04/2015 17:33

OP can you clarify how long you left the tests in the urine? It's quite important. If you did this part correctly then the chances are you are pregnant. Tap water will not turn a pregnancy test positive, It will however make the test line faint as it will dilute your urine. BUT If you leave the test in the urine for too long you can flood the test which can cause an evaporation line.

Take a picture and show us, but the essence is yes, you're pregnant.

And next time, tilt the pot, don't add water Wink
