Preg after C-Section

I've just found out (2 hours ago) that I'm pregnant again. DS is 8 months old and I had an emergency c section, will I be able to choose to have a section this time as I've already had one not long ago?
Has anyone else got pregnant so soon after section and got any advice for me? I'm happy but terrified!

I think they usually recommend a gap of one year (currently expecting DC3 and had two previous sections, was told not to consider more children at all or at very least for several years)

Yes you can choose a section but they will want to see you in the VBAC clinic to discuss - will still be your choice though.

Congratulations!

Yes you can elect for a csection if you've already had one x

I just had my doctor's app today. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and have a 1 year old born by ELCS (due to medical issues- hip hypermobility and chronic SPD). I asked if it would be a problem with placenta attaching etc this pregnancy and the nurse said No and has put on my hospital forms to request ELCS again. Good luck and congratulations!

Thank you, I'm excited but terrified. Will I cope with 2 babies?! I feel a bit guilty because DS is only 8 months that I should be focusing on him

I'm in a similar situation to you, will have a 13 month age gap. I had no idea about the waiting a year thing until my booking appointment - I wish they'd said before, not much use telling me now!
I had an emcs and I have to go on a VBAC course before I see the consultant. I'd like an elcs though

WibblyWobblyHead · 24/04/2015 07:05

Me too i'd much rather an elcs! I was 15 days overdue last time and had to be induced, I had an awful 22 hour labour before having an emergency section because i'd only dilated 1cm after all that time and was exhausted, I think an elcs would be a better option for me definitely!

Good luck, wishing you a more relaxed birth this time

It will be your choice. I got pregnant when I had a 9 month old so ended up with an 18 month age gap, and I think the age gap is just perfect, they are best friends and it's been lovely taking the 2 of them out and they can both enjoy the same sort of activities.
I've had 3 csections ( and will be having another in 2 months) and all were fine. My first was an emergency like yours, and all the others have been my own choice. I think they only worry when you get pregnant again immediately after, so literally have 9 months to a year between births.
Good luck

Thank you Smile good luck to you all too!
