I thought I was done with the paranoid knicker watching, but last night and this morning had 2 small smears of brown after going for a wee. Called the hospital; they said normal advice is to come straight in but if it's really light and doesn't happen again, I can wait until my mw appointment on Friday.

Really scared and unhappy as I haven't done anything that could have triggered it, like sex or a smear. Nothing at all! Has anyone else had anything like this in second trimester

Thanks all!

OP have you tried doing any reading online about it? I'm not a doctor, but I've read that occasional spotting during pregnancy, and indeed throughout pregnancy is relatively normal. It's normally cause for concern if the bleeding is heavy, or has a lot of red blood in it.

You did the right thing by calling the hospital. The only thing you can do is try to relax and do a little reading online to reassure yourself.

It is most likely ok and due to an irritable cervix. I had brown spotting at 25 weeks after lots of physical excercise and my consultant dismissed it saying as long as it wasn't red blood it was fine. It went away on its own.

Just keep an eye on it and and if you see red go back to your midwife
