Rare/ seared fish

I've found almost every restaurant I go to tried to serve me rare or seared fish which during pregnancy I always send back. However I've realised there's not actually anything about this on NHS and a quick Google doesn't come up with much either. There's lots on raw fish but nothing on seared - what does everyone think?

Fish is supposed to be cooked through i.e. you're not supposed to eat the uncooked/raw middle. I think the issue with fish is that there can be parasites, so searing wouldn't deal with this on the inside of the piece of fish. One way round is to ask if the fish has been frozen-this means it's ok to eat, even for raw/sushi as freezing kills off possible parasites.
