Today I found out my friend's baby has chickenpox (poor little thing) . I was playing with him on Saturday so think he was infectious then. I've not had it and so Drs just done a blood test to see if I have immunity. I'm 21 weeks pregnant. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? Such a nightmare, I'm really worried about my baba. I've just read I could have been immunised before pregnancy but didn't know that until now :(

I wasn't immune in either of my pregnancies, it's quite scary isn't it? The vaccination is only available privately though so you wouldn't have been immunised before pregnancy so don't feel bad about that. I guess they didn't check your immunity at booking in? My blood test was done then and came back as no immunity.
Hope it's all ok

My children have been exposed loads of times and never caught it. So don't panic yet. Count the 21 days...

You've done the right thing by seeing medical professionals, hope it's all okay!

I've never had it too so got the immunisation privately last year, at Fleet Street clinic in London, because I was worried what would happen if I caught it while pregnant. The total of two shots came to £120 I think.

One idea which doesn't help now, of course, but once you've given birth and you haven't had it - do get the immunisation done, it's just two shots over two months at a travel clinic. If your DC1 gets it, and let's face it kids usually will, and you're pregnant with Dc2 you're in trouble. So something to consider after you give birth this time.

In the meantime, great they re testing you! Try to relax.

They can offer you immunoglobulin I think, not sure what the protocol is but they can definitely do something.

Hope you are naturally immune.
