Pelvic floor exercises! Help

How the hell do you know if you are doing your pelvic floor exercises right. I should really start doing them but don't think I'm holding the right muscles or for long enough. Is there an easy way to tell?

Nhs app called Squeezy is really useful as a reminder and tells you how to do them. I know you're no longer meant to hold your wee to strengthen them but I've used that every now and again as a way of seeing if I'm using the right muscles. I'm still not convinced I do them correctly all the time but figure some of the time is still better than not at all

I recently went to an excellent physio who used an ultrasound machine to show me my 'deep core' muscles working (or not). This was pre-preg. Having something to visualise when I do exercises helps massively. So, perhaps look at a diagram of the pelvic floor and deep abdominals so you can picture what/where you need to work?

The best description I've read said to make sure your bladder is empty and push out any waiting farts, sorry.
Then starting at the front, imagine you are squeezing to stop yourself peeing, hold that and imagine you are pulling your fanny up into yourself, hold both and imagine that you're holding in a fart. Hold it all for 10 seconds and repeat ten times, twice a day. If you don't feel the 'release' of the muscles when you let go then the muscles have already given up. Just keep at it and you should be able to do all 10 after a while. Then start upping the number of seconds you hold it for by a few at a time, to keep strengthening them.

My midwife told me to put a finger in your vagina opening and if it closes around your finger when your doing them, then your doing them right x
