8 weeks pregnant, sickness and over eating...help!

I am just over 8 weeks pregnant with my first child and am going into meltdown here! I have been suffering with horrendous 24 hr nausea and the only thing that seems to help is eating. I feel less sick when eating and for about 10 minute after and then feel sick again so eat some more. I have put on 10lbs in 3 weeks and am panicking as I don't want to end up unhealthy and obese. I have been to the doctor who prescribed some anti sickness drugs which are helping a little but still I keep eating. Anyone had a similar experience and did you ease off the eating further into your pregnancy? People have started to notice the rapid weight gain and I'm so worried :(

I was exactly the same. Eating was the only thing that temporarily curbed my nausea! I'm at 13 weeks 4 days now and my weight has kinda evened out now. I did try to swap my snacks for healthier versions, e.g if I had crisps I would try and have the walkers baked or Pom bears to keep the calories down. Ate brown bread, wholewheat pasta, sweet potato instead of potatoes etc. I was really worried about the weight I was putting on but for now just concentrate on getting through these next few weeks! Also I retained alot of water so I looked like I had put more weight on than I had!
I didn't think I'd ever stop feeling sick but I'm so much better now and my appetite has calmed down! I'm now trying to eat more fruit and veg ( although I still love crisps and carbs!)

Try eating slow release foods. The sickness relieved by eating is due to low blood sugar. A sugar hit is an easy way to solve it but it means your blood sugar will drop again, quickly and sharply.
