That probably says it all really. Awful awful back ache from lower back to shoulders pretty much the whole day. Am 26wks and slight before the big old bump arrived. Obviously any meaningful painkillers are out and my midwife's view was 'that's just pregnancy' but if anyone had any tips for pain management is be grateful!

hot water bottles, paracetamol and an exercise ball... thats whats getting me through back ache caused by a UTI

Hot water bottles,I used to walk round work with it tucked down the back of my pants I looked stupid but it eased the pain.

Pregnancy yoga. I also use hot water bottles and wheat packs. I find the wheat packs really useful as they can be moulded to my back easier.

I do feel with you, OP. Same here, suffering quite badly, but mostly at nights. Pregnancy yoga helped me really a lot in early stages but I am now 25 weeks and it doesn't help anymore, nor does pregnancy pilates. I keep constantly waking up at night and then give up on sleep very early in the morning as getting out of bed is the only relief. Feeling tired and subsequently grumpy these days :(

Thanks all will keep on with the hot water bottles and may try some pregnancy yoga at last. If my bosses would let me work standing up rather than sitting at a desk that might help )although then there's the dizziness....)

A non-pregnant friend suffers with back ache made worse by sitting at work and recently changed her chair for a swiss ball and says the difference is amazing, might be worth a try.
