Anyone else snoring all of a sudden?

I dont normally snore unless I've had quite a bit of wine. DH was pleased in my first trimester as my wine related snoring stopped with immediate effect!

However, I have started snoring in the second trimester. I often wake myself up with a big snort! Sleeping only on my side not my back.

Is this a thing? Anything I can do to stop it? Getting little enough sleep as it is with hip agony and general discomfort. I'm 24 + 5.

Yep, this is my second time and I have basically snored and grunted my way through both pregnancies! Oh that and occasional drooling at night too....that's nice. I did google it last time and it seems it's sadly quite common - add it to the list of unnecessary ailments that seem to come with the whole process! Sadly I don't think there's anything you can do about it....the only thing that sometimes helped me was using an extra pillow.

scarednoob · 16/04/2015 21:37

My OH is... Not sure he has the same excuse though!

Propping yourself up with pillows might help both?

WilsonWilsonWoman · 16/04/2015 21:40

Pregnant snorer here too...apparently!

avocadotoast · 16/04/2015 21:48

Yeah, I went through a phase of it...it has settled down a bit now though! For me it went hand in hand with being super congested.

I got some of those Breathe Right strips for nights when I felt like it was going to be bad. They're not cheap, but they work quite well.

My husband wears ear plugs in bed. 25+1

Yep, I snored for the last half of my pregnancy Blush I told my DH it was good practice for when the baby was here Smile
Try the sticky strips you put on your nose. Boots own brand are a bit cheaper than the branded ones. Take a little bit of getting used to though. It stopped me snoring but I stopped wearing them after a week or do because they annoyed me.

Not snoring but I have been making odd noises in my sleep since I was about 6 weeks pregnant! Sort of satisfied sighs according to my DH.

MrsLovell · 17/04/2015 20:50

Another snorer here. I just started recently according to my DH. I read it's to do with your nasal passages swelling. I have found the breath right straps and propping my head up with more pillows has helped. But the strips are a bit uncomfortable. Failing that I bought my DH some ear plugs Grin

I snored like a pig through all three of my pregnancies, very loud. DP spent a lot of time on the sofa Grin

muddylettuce · 18/04/2015 09:06

Yup. Dp has to wear ear plugs. Conveniently this means he also can't hear toddler when she wakes...

Skeppers · 18/04/2015 09:17

Nope, I've always snored like a warthog! Could make for interesting co-sleeping when baby arrives...

StoneBaby · 18/04/2015 12:41

Oh yes I snore. I use the breathease strips and it helps.
26+4

letitpea · 19/04/2015 09:41

Mine seems to be worse early morning, from 4am on. Its after I wake up, go back to sleep and the random loud snorts start! Will have a look at the strips.

Don't think it helps that I have also been getting a very dry throat and need to clear my throat a lot too. The joys of pregnancy!
