Hello,

I am 36 weeks pregnant and my baby seems be constantly hiccupping, particularly after I have eaten or drunk something.

I think the baby must be hiccupping at least 3 times a day. Is this normal and has anyone else experienced it?

Many thanks.

SH

Hi SH, I posted a thread on this title a few weeks ago, sorry I am a bit rubbish at doing links but it must be further down the thread list somewhere.

I am almost 32 weeks and my baby hiccups about twice a day - all the replies I got suggested that this was perfectly normal and that it even might be a positive thing i.e. that a hiccupper is a better bfeeder. Not sure whether this is true, but I hope so!

Hi MotherBeaker,

Many thanks for your reply. I will have a look for the thread, but it sounds like it is something pretty normal.

My nuerotic side wondered if the baby had digestion problems.

I'll mention it to the midwife next week too.

Im 37 weeks and my LO hiccups all the time at least 3-4 periods a day, it's fine it's just where it's swallowing the amniotic fluid around it.

Both my babys hiccuped loads, cant remember how much (ds is 3 now) but was definitely alot. Ds also continued to hiccup lots after he was born, sometimes it seemed really bad to me but he didn't seem bothered. He also always got hiccups when he laughed which was quite sad really, he'd get a really cheeky little laugh going then nasty hiccups would come and ruin it, that didnt actually stop till about 6 months ago!

Sorry got a bit carried away reminiscing there

Thank you for your reassuring messages. I remember my first son having hiccups but not this bad. I also remember him having them when he was born and getting them just as he was about to nod off to sleep!!!!
