I had an early scan today due to lower back pain. Baby is measuring fine and has good heartbeat and yolk sac but Sonographer spotted a blood clot about the same size as baby in my uterus. Has anyone else suffered this? I was told it could reabsorb, I could bleed it out, or it could grow, resulting in high risk of miscarriage. Im worried sick.

I had an early scan at 5 weeks, 3 sacs, no fetal poles.
Went back 7 weeks - 3 sacs, 2 hb and at least 4 blood clots (all different sizes)
Two weeks later still the same
Then at 12+6 scan, only 1 hb but all blood clotting had disappeared.
So long story short, mines were reabsorbed, sure everything will be fine:) good luck xx

I had scans at 6 and 7 weeks after bleeding. At initial scan the blood clot was bigger than the baby. Light bleeding continued for a few weeks but by 12 week scan the clot was all reabsorbed. I was advised to avoid exercise beyond swimming /walking and also to avoid sex until after 12 week scan. Not sure if that made a difference. Fingers crossed for you, it's a horrible waiting game.

I had a scan at 6 weeks where they missed the bloodclot! God knows how.. i had another scan at 12 weeks because of heavy bleeding and cramps.. baby was fine, but there was a large bloodclot. She gave me the exact same advice as you were given. Im 15+1 now and fingers crossed still going.. been to epau a few times since to get a heartbeat check.

Fingers crossed for you too Fatty, I was told that things have usually settled by 16weeks. I was lucky in that it was a bit earlier. 32+4 now and no need for heartbeat checks. The baby is pummelling me!
