Hi

I have got a bad cold where one nostril is blocked for most part of the day. Due to difficulty in inhaling, i keep vomiting. Whatever i eat i vomit it out.
I tried steam but did not help much.
What should i do.

My pharmacist gave me a local equivalent to Otrivine, for babies (active ingredient Xylometazolin) - even though there haven't been any trials on pregnant women, the studies on women who have used it during pregnancy have not shown adverse effects.
Just in case, I used it sparingly, but after not sleeping for a week due to totally blocked nose, the referenced studies were good enough for me.

Xylometazoline and oxymetazoline are inhaled decongestants, which are also available OTC. The results of one human study of 207 women who used xylometazoline in the first trimester of pregnancy failed to show any increase in incidence of birth defects
