ovarian ectopic

Hi ladies.

I'm so heartbroken and in pain, I'm just looking for some support as in lots of shock at this stage.

I was around 5.4 weeks pregnant and starting to get very excited...I know I should wait but we really wanted this baby.

I've been perfectly fine and healthy, done loads of pregnancy tests, seen GP and arranged booking appointment with MW.

Then, out of the blue on Monday, whilst driving home I had terrible pains, sweats, shakes and sickness and literally couldn't move. My OH had to collect me as I couldn't drive. After three hours of hideous pains etc I went to A&E to be told itches prob ectopic and I needed emergency surgery.

Long story, but attachment was to ovary not tube and so had lots of internal bleeding.

Still in hospital, feeling low, shocked and alone.

I don't want to worry anyone, I'm just looking for support and to see if anyone experienced anything similar

Hi, I had an ovarian ectopic too. Your experience sounds awful, I hope the nurses are looking after you well. I didn't have the bleeding you had, but it's a really shocking thing to go through, especially when you've allowed yourself to start to enjoy the pregnancy (I did exactly the same).

How long do you have to stay in hospital? I found being home again made a big difference x

Thank you for your reply.

They said ovarian attachments are quite rare? Even though I had lots of bleeding, they have saved most of my ovary and tubes look fine.

I've had to have blood transfusions through the night so I am hoping when my BP settles out I can go home as being probed every half hour is exhausting. I want to be at home to take all this in.

How long ago was yours? Did you wait a while before TTC again?

I hope this never happens to anyone else xx

I think they are quite rare, just really awful luck. Very little consolation though

Mine was between Christmas and new year, I didn't have any bleeding but we were fortunate in that a private scan picked it up before anything started happening. Sounds like they didn't have to remove much with you, was the same here.

Waiting for my first period was a bit nerve wracking, I read all sorts of accounts that said it could be 2 to something like 12 weeks later (eugh - just wanted to get on with things). It arrived after 6 weeks, we ttc that cycle again, and it took! I'm 10 weeks now and it still feels pretty miraculous, though I know people say you're more susceptible straight after.

Have they advised how long you should wait?

It definitely took a few confusing weeks to sort my head out too, so make a bit of time for that too xx

The consultant has been to show me pictures of the surgery, not sure I was ready for that!

Congratulations on being 10 weeks, you have really cheered me up and made me feel more positive, sending huge luck and hugs.

I think it will sink in more when I get home.

They said I can try straight away, if I feel up to it. My Stomach is extremely extremely painfull and swollen so I'm going to give myself lots of time to recover

Xx

So sorry hugs x

I had a ruptured ectopic in my tibe almost a year ago. I'm surprised they told you you could try again straight away. The normal advice is to wait for three months or two cycles to allow your body to recover from the surgery. Otherwise you're at higher risk of a miscarriage. Have a look at the ectopic pregnanxy trust website.

Take care of yourself. X

mine spontaneously miscarried. I had a lucky escape I think.
I was pg again within 4 months.

Hi ladies.

I'm now home and so confused.

I was told six weeks ago I had a large cyst on my right ovary, then I got a confirmed pregnancy, then told I had an ectopic.

My confusion is; the consultant says I ovulated from my right ovary and it then attached to my left ovary and there is no sign of the large cyst, detected only six weeks ago....
...how can this happen???? I've tried doing so much research on line but can't find an explanation.

Obviously I'm hurt, in pain etc but I'm driving myself up the wall wondering how the fertilised egg travelled from one ovary to the other?

If my tubes are fine, when can we try again?

Any advice? Had this happened to anyone else?

X

Cysts can disappear by themselves sometimes. But I have no idea about the attaching. I think perhaps ask the consultant? I am sure s/he will explain.

Hope you feel better soon

scarednoob · 19/04/2015 19:33

sorry pressed post too soon!

Hope you feel better soon and really sorry you've had such a hard time :(

Helloall1 · 19/04/2015 21:51

Hi. Thanks, yes I will ask again. I did ask when in hospital but I just couldn't take anything in.

None of this feels real.

Hey, we're they referring to the follicle that the egg was released from when they mentioned a cyst?
I think, if you have miscarried spontaneously, and need no medical intervention, you can pretty much ttc as soon as you want. The hospital will often tell you to wait until after your next period in order to make dating an immediate pregnancy easier, but as far as I can remember, it's not necessary.
If you are going to try again I can heartily recommend the Posifrickentivity thread over in conception. It totally kept me sane after my mc.

Not sure if you may have looked already but the ectopic pregnancy trust website is very good for detailed information regarding ectopics. I found it very supportive when going through my previous 2 ectopics. With regard to the cyst. I had 2 with my current pregnancy one was corpus luteal from the side I ovulated and the other was a simple cyst on my other ovary. These were picked up at my 5 week scan and got gradually smaller. They were gone by my 12 week scan. Stay strong and be kind to yourself you can get through it x
