I am sure someone else has had the same thing happen. How small do they think your baby is? How many weeks are you angel?

twickersmum · 03/11/2006 10:46

How have they measured your baby? scan or just "feeling your tummy"?
I was sent into a panic by midwife and then consultant who at 33 weeks felt the baby and said she was way too small. In the end i had an emergency scan which showed the baby was small, but fine - the reason they panicked was the baby was lying sideways on and they were measuring her totally wrong.

hi - they can do a growth scan....which gives an approximate weight of the baby and length etc of limbs

usually measure head, abdomen & femur..and plot it on a sort of graph to estimate current size & weight and estimated size & weight at delivery...

how many weeks are you?

is this your first?

when do you go back to midwife / conusltant?

Im 28 wks and Ive got 2 boys 11&14 there weight was 7+lbs with no problems. Ive had multiple sonograms and they keep telling me she is under size (arms, legs;head) they keep telling me not to worry ,that they just need to watch and ensure she continues to grow, but thats not so easy for me to do . My obgyn told me to ask the genetic consul and the consul told me to ask the obgyn

do they know why there is an issue with the baby's growth...placental maybe... it is a shame they are not answering your questions, but if they are not too worried..you should try not to be either...(easier said than done!).......

Thankyou Im trying not to worry but ive wanted a girl for so long and it seems like its one thing after another. However they said she weighs 2.5lbs which should be right on I guess she just going to be little. They havent really given us a reason for why shes small they just keep saying we need to watch her growth and make sure she keeps growing

My dd1 was picked up as small for dates at 28 weeks. I had growth scans every two weeks and she eventually weighed in at 5lb 6oz at 39 weeks. Was a bit poorly at delivery and went to SCBU for a week. She was fine in the end and in fact was an early walker and talker and now at 7 you would never know of her early problems. Hope that helps a bit, it's hard not to worry.
