Ok so I'm 8 weeks by LMP and I think I'm going to die. Nausea all day except when I'm eating slowly, but if I eat too much I feel awful again. It starts as soon as I wake (even if that's at 3am to settle DD). I have heart burn on and off, but was really bad for the five days running up to my period.
I have bloated really badly this time too! I have a small frame but having to wear baggy tops to disguise my gut.
With my first pregnancy I remember feeling a bit bloated in the evening, but it was gone by the morning. I had a very small bump by 16 weeks, but easy to disguise and hardly noticeable.

What the heck is going on? Does anyone else feel like they're having the pregnancy from hell second time around? Why am I bloating out so badly? I eat carefully, and avoid fatty/rich foods. I don't think I'm over eating either.
Anyone have any words of wisdom/ reassurance?

I'm 11 weeks today and feel way worse this time round. Much sicker and if I don't make myself sick in the morning I'll not be able to eat all day. Constant nausea and bloating. I'm fat anyway so have given up breathing in and look about 20 weeks sometimes. I also can't poo properly which is the most upsetting. Hoping it'll get better or that it means I'm having a girl this time Hmm

Sleepybunny · 14/04/2015 15:55

Funny that. I wondered if I was having a boy because it was never this bad with DD!
Hope you feel better soon.

I've done 3 pregnancies and honestly each has been worse than the last. With my first I was like you and barely knew I was pregnant really! Very little nausea, small little bump until quite late on etc etc.

Sorry - I know its no comfort but it seems quite common. People have told me is because your body 'knows what to do'.

I personally think that once you're on second pregnancy I assume you've got another child you're looking after and the exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks, which never happened first time round but I was able to take it easy a lot more and go to bed early, lie in on weekends etc.

AnnieLewis · 14/04/2015 15:59

Frasras I also got terrible constipation with all three - its the worst!!! I sympathise! Are you taking anything for it?

Sleepybunny · 14/04/2015 16:03

Thanks Annie, I was starting to worry that there might be something wrong with me or this baby! I won't be going for a third then!!

I felt the same with DS and DD, this time around I was awful in the first few weeks! Bloated early on, sickness so bad I couldn't even keep water down. I was convinced it was a girl from what other people had said, it's a boy! (I am happy of course)

I did however very suddenly feel absolutely fine at 16 weeks onwards - it actually worried me how quickly the symptoms disappeared.

Now apart from the obviously massive belly and SPD I feel normal. Hoping it will last a while.

26+2

I felt so awful at the start of this pregnancy, terrible nausea that never abated and a tiredness that floored me!

For me the reason turned out to be twins Smile - growing 2 babies and 2 placentas was a tough ask.

I was also taking care of my 10.5mo DS and couldn't nap whenever I felt like it, the way I did when I was pregnant with him.

I'm now 35+2, the size of a small country and very very very ready to meet my babies Grin

Hope everything goes well for you and you feel better soon!

Frasras11 · 14/04/2015 16:24

Hi Annie. It's a mix of constipation and the other!! I have to know there's a loo before I can go out anywhere! Not taking anything as it's so interchangable!

People have said to me it's because you've already got a child/work FT/run a household that you're more knackered and feel worse. I guess it's right as first time round I would just go to bed and stay there on a weekend. No chance of that now! Although DP has been fab In letting me nap and taking over housework etc.

Someone suggested it might be twins as sickness and tiredness is worse. I fecking hope not!!

Sleepybunny · 14/04/2015 16:35

Twins!!! Eek! Congratulations Eagle!

That's just scary! My mum is a twin actually. What do you think the odds are?

My friend said something to me when she was pregnant with her 2nd DS, and it made me giggle. She had a really easy pregnancy with her first, not so much with her 2nd:

"how can the same ingredients go into the same oven and come out completely different!?" Grin

TheEagle · 14/04/2015 16:40

It depends on the type of twin your Mum is, sleepybunny. If she's a fraternal (non identical twin) that means that your granny ovulated twice in one cycle to conceive her twins.

Ovulating like that can be genetic and can increase your chance of getting pregnant with twins.

Identical twins are conceived when an egg randomly splits in 2 so they just occur randomly.

That being said, my best friend has identical twins - her sisters are identical twins and one of those twins has identical twins!!! Doesn't seem random to me Smile

There are 100s of twin theories/myths out there on the web!

You never know Wink

Number3cometome · 14/04/2015 16:41

WannabeLaraCroft

Mine are slightly different ingredients this time around Blush

WannabeLaraCroft · 14/04/2015 16:43

Number3 still the same ingredients though, just a different brand this time round Wink

Sleepybunny · 14/04/2015 16:56

Haha! That's a funny point about the ingredients! So true though.
Eagle my mum is non-identical! Oh dear I'm stuffed aren't I?Grin

I guess all will be revealed at the dating scan in a few weeks

Ooh you never know, sleepybunny! Good luck!

heatherxo · 14/04/2015 17:44

I felt awful from 4 weeks +... Found out at an early scan that the cause was indeed identical twins! Sadly 1 passed, and since then the symptoms dropped to nothing at all!
Based on my experience, sounds promising that you've got two little beans in there! Good luck :)

StoneBaby · 14/04/2015 18:50

I'm 26w on my 2nd pregnancy and this one has been worse than 1st. While I had mild nausea this time around, I suffered from bleeding, constipation, and new feature this week blackout and worries of pre-eclampsia.

But same sex children

ovumahead · 14/04/2015 19:17

I've heard that second pregnancies are always harder - more symptoms.. Not sure why! Definitely true for me. Sailed through the first, 18 weeks into second and have felt diabolical.

Sleepybunny · 14/04/2015 20:19

Here's hoping its just a rough second pregnancy. I think I'd be terrified out of my mind if it was twins.

Sorry for your loss Heatherxo

That's strange you have same sex babies but totally different pregnancies StoneBaby.

I've felt awful for most of my preganacy this time, my first was so easy and completely different. I thought I might be expecting twins or a girl this time because things are so different to when I was pregnant with my DS but nope, it's another boy. I just feel constantly sick, bloated, exhausted etc, etc. I'm 30 weeks so just wishing away the next 10 weeks. I hope you feel better soon.

I like the ingredients analogy - so true!

BlinkAndMiss · 14/04/2015 20:44

Not to sound completely doom and gloom I should add, my nausea has got better since 20 weeks and it's more that I'm uncomfortable because of how big I am now - it does get easier in terms of initial symptoms but then you will probably get another batch of new ones!

Mrscog · 14/04/2015 20:45

Yup 39+3 with dc2. This pg has been shit, the past couple of weeks have been ok though and I'm telling myself the baby will just float out after 1 hour if established labour :D

NickyEds · 14/04/2015 20:49

I'm 27 weeks and this pregnancy has been shit compared to my first. I had about two days of very mild nausea with ds and threw my guts up every day for 3 months with this one. I had a lovely little bump with my first but I'm already bigger now than when I delivered ds. Moody, fat, headachey, my ligaments hurt as they stretch.....I could go on...I could barely even tell i was pregnant the first time around.Boo.
I'm having a little girl this time, so different genders different pregnancies here but you also can't underestimate how knackering having ds already around is (he's 16 months) so I'm trying not to be too quick to blame my baby girl!

BlinkAndMiss · 14/04/2015 20:57

Mrscog you're nearly there! And yes, the baby will float out after 1 hour of established labour - as it will for all of us on here because we've had such a hard time :).

NickyEds I'm huge this time! My 'large' maternity clothes from last time don't fit me, I only used them for the last few weeks in my first pregnancy and I'm already having to buy bigger ones this time.

We'll all forget about the hard times soon enough, it'll all be worth it :).
