Stomach cramps

Just found out I am pregnant. Don't know by how much yet as I haven't had my first proper appointment. Getting almost constant stomach cramps like period pain, with aching in my lower back. Also getting sickness...quite a bit! From reading books and stuff it says that you get sickness from about 6 weeks but doesn't seem to mention cramps. Also is sickness normal before 6 weeks? I have done two negative tests in the last 5 weeks so was surprised when doctor did a positive one. So many questions! So, are cramps normal? how early can sickness start? Any advice gratefully received! Thanks

sick at 5 with first pregnancy and 6 with second.......! cramping is to be expected, but if in conjunction with spotting / bleeding should be checked out

nausea although annoying is a positive sign, especially early on as means all the right hormones are surging through your body to establish the pregnancy! tends to wear off between 12 - 14 weeks,

congratulations !

Thanks for the fast reply Lulumama. Being a firstimer is quite nervewarcking! No spotting with the cramps so am pleased that cramps are normal. Only had morning sickness for 2 days and had enough already!

twill get better....usually!!!

comfort yourself with the thought your body is doing what it needs too...

ginger ale, ginger biscuits & dry crackers can help with the nausea....eat when you feel like it..and what you feel like...your body will be good at telling you what you need!

you do tend to panic at every twinge and cramp, especially with the first (but often,. all pregnancies!) , ask any questions,...usually someone here has an answer or advice.Or sympathy!!
