As per my title.
I eat loads of fruit/veg/fibre.
To be fair, I eat loads generally! (This may be the issue?)

I drink about 4/5 pints of cold drinks plus teas/coffees per day.

I could exercise more, but I am fairly active with work and a toddler.

Any tips?

I ate plenty of fruit and reasonable amounts of veg but found upping my veg/salad quota helped. Also, I try to make water my number one drink with the odd cup of tea but mainly water. Full caffeine tea sometimes is all it takes to get me moving.
I've then added in prune juice which I mix with my regular fruit juice to make it more palateable.

Are you on a multi vitamin or iron supplements? My midwife said they can often cause the constipation so as I was bunged up and on lactulose early on he said I needed to up my iron from my diet to avoid suplements at a later stage so now also eat spinach with most meals which also increases my fibre from veg.

I'm now 34 weeks and have been more regular the last couple of weeks than I have throughout the whole pregnancy despite being less mobile thanks to SPD. The only change I've made is I'm probably snacking more across the day instead of three meals and I drink upwards of three litres of water so,e days (also have puffy ankles in this heat which meant another reason to increase my fluid intake).

Hope something in there works for you. I tried flaxseed/linseed and that did nothing for me.

Plenty fresh orange juice or hot water with slice of lemon in usually works for me

DayLillie · 13/04/2015 17:00

Japanese food - the best thing since movicol for me. No idea why though Hmm

applecore0317 · 13/04/2015 17:20

Hot water with lemon
My other saviour is prune puree, which I simmer prunes in water and juice for fifteen mins, remove the stones and blend. Has kept me pretty regular apart from the odd day. I have it every night before bed, usually cook about eight prunes at a time and that covers two nights

Coconuts. Fresh coconut, or coconut milk :)

Or porridge with a banana chopped in.

Sparrowlegs248 · 13/04/2015 20:20

A large bowl of branflakes for breakfast every day has kept constitution at bay for me after one horrendous episode.

If I do get a bit bunged up, something 'bad' will usually do the trick - mcdonalds breakfast, burger king lunch etc!

BumWad · 13/04/2015 20:33

Indian tea!

(Tea with fresh ginger and mint)

seaoflove · 13/04/2015 21:28

Movicol. Not tasty but it works.

Latium123 · 13/04/2015 22:10

The only thing that worked for me was prune juice. I didn't like it to start with but I got used to it and quite enjoyed my morning shot by the end of pregnancy.

Latium123 · 13/04/2015 22:10

That is shot of prune juice for the avoidance of doubt!

MrsAnxiety1 · 13/04/2015 22:19

Fruit and fibre regularly, loads of water, fruit and stewed prunes in porridge keeps me going Wink oh and grapes... They definitely work but not as well as when I'm not pregnant!

hagred · 14/04/2015 07:59

Thanks all.

I know it works from my first pg, but I hate prune juice. Will try a load of the others, esp something bad ;).

Dried apricots are good - I've made some apricot flapjack which is lovely and seems to help :)

applecore0317 · 14/04/2015 09:45

I also hated prune juice, it made me gag. Although works well if you add it to a homemade smoothie as you won't be able to taste it then. I do that when I don't fancy the prune puree which also doesn't taste as bad.

MustBeLoopy390 · 14/04/2015 09:47

Apple juice and liquorice work for me :) hope you feel better soon x

vvviola · 14/04/2015 09:49

Freshly squeezed orange juice - half a mug, topped up with boiling water to make a hot orange drink. My go-to remedy when pregnant for colds and constipation.

sianihedgehog · 14/04/2015 20:57

Fybogel twice a day on top of a shit load of fruit and veg.

pepperfish · 15/04/2015 21:50

Dried Apricots! If your guts start rumbling, a good result won't be far off!! Grin

TippetyTapWriter · 16/04/2015 15:27

I've found pears to be the best fruit - the conference pears with the gritty skin. I have to have at least one every day. Guessing they have lots of fibre? Also circling gently on my birth ball seems to help too!
