What ones have you heard of?

Had a go at predicting?

Were you right/wrong?

Do you think you might have your rose-tinted specs on, First?

Yep. Grin

Congratulations!

Dogsmom · 14/04/2015 22:26

I spent ages doing all the old wives tales and symptom spotting with both of mine, totally different pregnancies with cravings and symptoms and had 2 girls.
All the old wives tales and Chinese gender predictor said boy for dd1.

SingingHinnies · 15/04/2015 03:13

Fortune teller/gypsy in street said i would have 3 blonde haired, blue eyed sons with a blonde haired, blue eyed man i already know most of it was true apart from having 3 blond haired blue eyed dd's

GoblinLittleOwl · 15/04/2015 09:46

Yes.
When I was just pregnant with my son I drove down a lane and saw 4 magpies sitting in the road in front of me; when I was just (a few days) pregnant with my daughter, I saw 3 magpies at the end of the drive:
One for sorrow, two for joy;
Three for a girl, four for a boy.
I have never seen more than two before or since.

Droflove · 15/04/2015 10:14

Well they are 50% right!

I had bad morning sickness and very distinctive tastes during my two pregnancies. With ds I could only eat fruit and yogurt. No meat and even a grain of sugar in anything made me sick as a dog.

With dd all I wanted was muffins and cake. No interest in fruit or yogurt whatsoever.

I can tell you honestly I was too sick to have any control over what I was able to eat.

WhispersOfWickedness · 15/04/2015 10:37

I am the least Woo person you could meet, but I do believe in the leg hair theory!
I am naturally quite hairy, didn't notice much difference when I had DS. But when I had DD, I hardly had to shave at all, it was brilliant Grin

Pisghetti · 15/04/2015 11:18

Just to throw a hairy spanner in the works - I still resemble a big boobied Chewbacca three weeks on from having my daughter. Didn't happen with DS. My instincts were right both times though.

Topseyt · 15/04/2015 14:52

The morning sickness must be an old wives tale. I heard plenty of people saying that bad morning sickness indicated a boy.

Lucky sod that I was, I had no sickness at all in any of my three pregnancies (you can shoot me if you need to, though I did have a few other problems). I had three girls.

I've never been one for shaving my legs, and didn't notice any difference in them anyway.

SunnyBaudelaire · 15/04/2015 14:54

ring and string - thing is, it does actually work.
When I tried it, the ring was going in all directions, circles, straight lines, like it was confused.
B/G twins as it turned out!

Topsyloulou · 15/04/2015 16:16

Nub theory & Chinese calendar both said boy, bump was neat, high & all out front and minimal morning sickness. However I did crave sweet things & only shaved my legs a handful of times in 9 months. We had a boy. Think it's great to test out all these theories.

hollyisalovelyname · 15/04/2015 16:17

Goblin you obviously don't live in my area- often you have to do the magpie rhyme twice as there are so many of the blighters ( killing the smaller birdsHmm ).

RolyPolierThanThou · 15/04/2015 16:29

I didn't need to shave my legs in either of me previous pregnancies. In fact it was quite a shock when normal growth resumed about two months post partum.

Both boys.

Ketchuphidestheburntbits · 15/04/2015 16:41

I proved the midwife wrong on the heartbeat thing. My DD just had a slower heartbeat.

I can't comment on the leg hair theory as I was too huge to see my legs during the final months of pregnancy!

pettyprudence · 16/04/2015 07:20

I can't remember how hairy I was - both pregnancies were quite similar, more exhausting second time round but that's probably because I already had a toddler. Anyway Chinese method was right for me both times - a boy and then a girl

muddymary · 16/04/2015 08:29

I've had no sickness but chronic heartburn and I'm really hairy - unfortunately not just on my legs, my face resembles Jeff from baker grove :-(.
My bump is quite high but I've put on a lot of weight too probs because I'm craving mashed potatoes! I'm having a boy so for me at least a couple of the old wives tales have turned out correct!

muddymary · 16/04/2015 08:30

Byker grove not baker grove!!!

kirstylouise20 · 16/04/2015 11:12

I had really bad morning sickness up to 16 weeks, leg hair grew no different, bump low and at the front & the Chinese predictor where u don't change your age to lunar age just keep normal age predicted a boy & heartbeat was defo a train & I am indeed having a baby boy ??

PixieCake · 16/04/2015 22:09

Looking rough in pregnancy (bad skin, rubbish hair etc) = girl, because "girls steal your looks"

Looking blooming lovely = boy

Somersetlady · 18/04/2015 13:10

I asked the the 20 week scan.
Was on my notes as a girl was scanned every week from 25 weeks and not once did anyone spot he had a willy!
Now a healthy 11 month old but I'd say some of the above suggestions will hold as mich weight for me as a scan next time round!!!

hestialou · 18/04/2015 15:30

Chinese gender predictor said girl, hair dresser says girl because hair has gone wispy at front, bad morning sickness, shaved legs once in 4 months, not glowing so would suggest girl, but have a neat pointy bump which says boy....guess I'll find out in 22 weeks!
