Hi folks! I've been taking folic acid and vitamin D/calcium since I found out I was pregnant - 3 tablets a day in total (I have to take 2 of the Vitamin D ones). Was thinking about just getting Pregnacare or something, which also has iron in it and is only ONE tablet per day.

Does anyone have any recommendations? TIA Smile

Seven seas pregnancy vitamins is my preferred brand.
Think they're all pretty much the same though so you can't really go wrong with any all in one pregnancy vit.
Last time I bought mine, Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on vitamins so might be worth seeing if you can get them on offer :)

Aah thank you WinterBaby, I'll have a look in Boots later on today for them Smile

I take asda's ones. All pregnancy vitamins are heavily regulated and it just happens that pregnacare are 3 times more expensive than everyone else. My tip is to take them at night as they tend to make me a bit sicky if I took them in the morning

I'm taking Centrum Pregnancy care which you can carry on taking when breastfeeding

WannabeLaraCroft · 13/04/2015 12:58

Thanks happy, I hadn't even considered supermarket brands but will have a look.

Proudmummy that's something I'm looking for too, that I can keep taking even after the baby is born to support breastfeeding. Although I'm not sure if I will be bf this time round, didn't last long with my DS, couldn't cope with it.

I've been taking Pregnacare Max for the last few months and I really like them. They are two vitamin tablets (about average size for a multi-vit - larger than a paracetamol but not enormous) and one fish oil tablet which benefits the baby's brain development in utero. I like them a lot, but they are expensive (£19.99/month) however I use Boots' 3 for 2 offer and buy 3 months for £40... still not cheap but they contain trace elements including calcium and inositol etc that others certainly don't!

I will be going vitamin shopping on my lunch break tomorrow, see what offers are on. Oh how exciting my life has become - living on the edge Wink

Hi wannabe

I've chose to take Pregnacare max and am finding them really good.

scarednoob · 13/04/2015 18:50

i've just got the ordinary pregnacare complete - i also got 3 packs of 90 tablets for 2 at boots!

sorry to hijack but do people recommend the max? i'm v happy to buy those instead if the fish oil is worth having??

shinysparklythings · 13/04/2015 18:56

I take the sevenseas ones!

mountainofdreams · 13/04/2015 19:01

Hi scarednoob I take the pregnacare max tablets and I'm sure you're fine with the standard option.
When asked at my booking in if I was taking supplements I just said Pregnacare and no further Q's were asked.
I also got them 3 for 2 at boots which I thought was reasonable! Grin

scarednoob · 13/04/2015 19:17

thanks dreams! i will stick with what i have and try to keep eating real fish a few times a week (why isn't it white chocolate that is recommended, why why why?!)

Focusfocus · 13/04/2015 20:06

I am on the zita west trimester specific multivitamins. Very expensive but is suiting me fine. That plus omega 3.

I have gone off dairy completely so will add calcium in trimester 2 and 3 which is when it becomes crucial.

I was on pregnacare conception from six months before we decided to try and conceive.

mountainofdreams · 13/04/2015 20:28

Haha scarednoob I know, I know! I had a massive craving for those biscuits where it's a slab of chocolate on top then biscuit at the bottom so lets just say if they were good for you I would be a very healthy lady today! Also massively craving plain fruity ice lollies the past week, feel slightly less bad about them than my other chocolaty vices!! Grin

WannabeLaraCroft · 13/04/2015 22:02

Thanks everyone Smile. Seems that all the ones I've seen in shops have been recommended here, think I might just see what the offers are when I go into Boots.

And here, I thought it was time consuming enough standing in the chilled aisle deciding which yogurts to buy! Confused
