That your second and subsequent babies weigh more than your first ? Just concerned as my first was 7lb and I'm only tiny myself, worried about a larger baby this time ? Is it true or made up ? Also are labours shorter the second time ?

Dc1 6lb 6oz born at 38 weeks, 5 hour labour
Dc2 7lb, born at 41 weeks, 1 hour labour

DC1 - 9lbs 12ozs and 40 hour labour
DC2 - 10lbs 2 ozs and 2 hour labour

Dc1 8lb 2oz 6 hours labour and 7 days late
Dc2 7lb 10oz 2.5hrs labour and 12 days over

DC1 - 7lb 12oz, 24hour labour
DC2 - 7lb 30z, 2.5 hour labour
DC3 - 9lb, 1 hour labour (easiest and quickest of the lot)

My mum's stats:

Sister - 6lbs - 12 hr labor
Me - 6lb 6oz - 6 hr labor
Brother - 6lbs 4oz - 4 hr labor

My stats:

DS1 - 6lbs 5oz - 4 hrs 50 mins
DS2 - 6lbs 1oz - 7 hrs

DS1 was in a far greater hurry to be born, DS2 took his own sweet time. I worried that DS2 would be super fast and OBGYN had told me to get straight to hospital if my waters went, but they didn't break until right before he was born so that kept things relatively slow.

Apparently second born babies are on average 5oz heavier than first borns. Didn't hold true for me though, DS2 was so tiny (46cm long) that he looked like a tiny bald hedgehog.

So not necessarily. They told me ds2 was going to be huge around 11lbs I was petrified. He arrived on his due date a very petite 8lb10!

Ok i'm scared now - I am a planned c-section (3rd one) and have been told to get to the hospital asap if I go in to labour (mine is under a general anaesthetic)

Going by the stats above, I hardly sound like I will have time!!

My 1st was my biggest a d they were all born around the same time. Also both boys being smaller than girls. Think it just depends on baby x

first was alb.
Second was 10b.
Pg with 3rd and midwife said third likely to be bigger and as such they won"t let it go two weeks overdue like second.

That said, first was on time - if she had been two weeks late maybe she would have been 10lbs too.

Dd1 was 30 hour labour and weighed 6lbs 15, dd2 was 14 hours and 7lbs 9.
Both born at 38+ 5.

I felt much more battered and exhausted after dd2 despite a shorter labour and recovery was longer.
