Slow metabolism (and a bit of a moan)

I'm sure I read somewhere that your metabolism speeds up during pregnancy but I am sure mine has slowed down completely. When I can actually eat I get what I think is indegestion, where my chest and mid back feel tight, and I can literally 'feel' the food sat around in my stomach. It's worse at night, even if I eat before 7 I keep waking up in the middle of the night or early in the mornign with a heavy nauseous feeling in my stomach. Also, usually I'm am 'regular' as clockwork, but currently don't seem to be going to the loo very much.

Any advice - I'm am so unconfortable and I've had a b*tch of a day - I even cried at work!

BTW I am 7wk+3

try eating little and often rather than big meals 3 times a day

eat lots of fruit, veg & fibre and drink lots of fluid ...to keep the bowels moving!

ginger ale & ginger biscuits, dry crackers good for nausea

you need about 200 extra calories per day later on in pregnancy..about the equivalent of a couple of slices of bread...so it is not a massive increase in terms of how much more you need to eat

lots of massive hormonal changes going on as your body establishes the pregnancy. so you might feel peculiar for a little while.....hence more crying !

if you have indigestion..check with doc if you can take gaviscon..it is ok in later pregnancy, but not sure about first trimester

drinking milk can damp down acid pain....

and congratulations on your pregnancy..you will feel better soon..
