I bought my first sleepbag 0-6 months. I wanted to use these and nothing else as advised for night, but now I have one it looks massive for a newborn? Any advice? Do u get smaller sizes? I take it a blanket is OK for the day when your watching them.in a Moses basket? And a sleepbag for night in a snuzpod? Also when are blankets and pillows advised? I'm hoping to put lo on the cotbed in her nursery at 6 months.

The sleeping bag will have a minimum weight so you will need something to use before they reach that weight - swaddled in a large muslin is what I did.

Pillows for +1yo but really they are unnecessary til at least 2 imo.

Blankets are fine at any age, as long as they are tucked in securely and the baby is put at the bottom of the cot/crib so theres nowhere for them to go underneath the covers.

Duvets not advised until +1 and again, probably inecessary if using sleeping bags until +2

I've only just started putting my daughter in a sleeping bag at 3 months, I swaddled her from birth which she loved. They are pretty massive so I'm not sure suitable for a newborn

We started using them at about 2 months as she started kicking blankets off. She is now 7 months and will be in sleeping bags for the foreseeable future.

Thanks - I have a few swaddles so will try that for the first few.months. I've seen some grobag swaddles - easy use, I might get one or two whilst I get use to the knack of swaddling. Has anyone used these?

We had a kind of stretchy swaddle thing that had a zip up the front, we bought it from mothercare. That was very good when DS was tiny.
He's 7 months now and has been in a sleeping bag since he was around 2 months

I used from birth - you just have to see that they can't get their head through the hole to wriggle inside the bag.

It's called "summer infant summer pod" I was rubbish at swaddling so this was amazing! Smile

It depends on how big your baby is, mine was too small for sleeping bags from birth. Used a swaddle and a cellular blanket (has holes in)
