hey guys, I'm a long time lurker, first time poster...I'll be 6 weeks pregnant tomorrow after trying for 2 years, however I started bleeding on Wednesday, the doctor has referred me for a scan at EPU Monday and has told me its a threatened miscarriage. Needless to say oh and I are both terrified and I've spent the last few days googling everything I can think of...What I really want to know though, if anyone doesn't mind sharing their experience is,

1-How long did your threatened miscarriage last?

2-What was the outcome?

Thanks for reading guys

I've had bleeding on and off from 8 weeks to 24 weeks varying from spot on tissue to soaked pad. Am now 25 weeks and luckily all ok. The worry is awful! as some one had already said, I think the term threatened miscarriage is used for unexplained bleeding, which makes it sound worse!. I was found to have an ectropian (straggly end of cervix sticking out ) and a slightly low placenta, both of which could be the cause. My biggest struggle early on was that there was nothing that could be done to change the outcome if anything was to go wrong, which is shitty as waiting to see is not much fun. Sorry you are going through this, I hope the outcome is a happy one for you. Please know you are not alone in this. X

Hi all,

Had scan this morning and nothing was showing on the ultrasound. However, a doctor has called me to advise me that my bloods are showing 2200 hcg, they are concerned it could be an ectopic pregnancy as they believe something should be showing on the scan with a hcg at this level Sad
I'm heading back in to the hospital soon for more assessments and an overnight stay to see where we go from here...

Hi Kitten

Sorry to hear about your stressful morning.
Sending best wishes your way FlowersFlowers.
Fingers and toes crossed for you.

my EPU appointment was in conclusive (miniscule sac on scan) although I'm pretty sure I'm miscarrying now - just a feeling really. Waiting to hear blood test results and will need repeat scan in a week or so. Limbo continues...

Kitten hopefully it was just too early to see much on your scan, gx for you
x

EPU trip now less inconclusive as progesterone came back as ~5 ng/ml (should be 10-30 at this stage), so I guess I'm no longer a 'threatened' miscarriage, but one in progress. Still bleeding fairly lightly, so just waiting for it to get heavier really. Have rescan in 1 weeks time to monitor/check.

thanks for all the support on here.

I still have hope for you kitten

I'm so sorry to hear that 5hell :(

After waiting 48 hours and another hcg blood test done this morning, levels have only risen to 2700 so an ectopic pregnancy is near enough certain :( more bloods and another scanon Friday is the plan at present but it's looking unlikely to be anything else Sad

There is the tiniest glimmer of hope after Friday....Another scan showed nothing in my uterus, however nothing was found in my tubes or ovaries either. They did another hcg blood test which came in at 3800, not double but still a massive increase from Wednesday....This has led them to believe that there is a chance I am earlier than we thought with an extraordinarily high hcg level...We are now waiting 10 days (until next Monday) for another scan and we will go from there! Confused

Oh how frustrating and worrying for you. Do go straight in if you get pains, keeping fingers crossed.

Hi just wanted to share my story...this morning I woke up went to restroom and when I wiped I noticed bright red blood.Im 10 weeks pregnant. I panicked, I wiped again and more blood and a large clot I just knew I miscarried. I didn't have any cramping or pain but I still went to the E.R. long story short they did a ultrasound and blood work everything came back normal baby heart was so good 174bpm . Dr said it is normal to have some bleeding during 1st trimester..try not to worry.. trust in God and pray!
