Will I need a mattress protector for bed nest bedside crib?

Planning to have baby sleeping beside bed in bed nest until 6 months. Will I need a mattress protector, or just sheets?

It's not really something I have researched but I think a mattress protector would be a good idea and would help to keep it nice. I might get one to use with my bugaboo too.

I used a bed nest and mattress protector from Little Green Sheep-they do bedding to fit the bednest. We never had any accidents as DD wasn't at all messy which I think is pretty unusual...so I'd definitely get something just in case - it would be a pain to spoil the mattress.

Didn't bother. But didn't have a very sicky baby.
