Uti worry

Hi, I currently have a uti, went to the gp yesterday with ear ache and she dipped my sample and told me. I've had no real symptoms though my wee has been a bit darker than usual. At the same time I have an ear infection and a stinking cold. Started antibiotics for uti yesterday and antibiotic spray for ear yesterday. I'm taking paracetamol every four hours and drinking tonnes (2.5 litres of water so far). I have a temp of 38.5 and I'm panicking it's going to cause me to miscarry. I'm 17+4, am I being silly? GP scared me as she said I had to start treatment immediately as I was at risk of preterm labour. Is there anything i can do to protect myself or get myself better?

Not sure if I am be of much help, but didn't want to leave your post unanswered. I think you are doing all the right things and drinking loads is very important for uti. Also you started the antibiotics so they should kick in soon and things will start getting better. A friend of mine also had an infection during pregnancy but after antibiotics she went on to have a healthy rest of pregnancy and a lovely baby. Hope you'll feel better really soon Thanks

Thank you, this is dc2 and I had a uti the first time but at about 34 weeks so wasn't scared. Stupidly googled and found loads I didn't want to read. Keep trying to tell myself I'm doing all I can and I really just need to calm down and get well.

Step away from Google!
You're getting treatment which will help you get better. Antibiotics are wonderful things that tend to be very effective and work quite quickly. Try to rest as much as you can, drink plenty of water and call your midwife if you need reassurance, that's what they're there for. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

Cool yourself down as best you can, don't rely on paracetamol. Lie naked by an open window! Have a cool shower. You'll be OK I'm sure, don't worry, it won't help but definitely do not look at Google!
