Stubbing pain

Hi everyone,

I'm worried about the pain I've been having pretty much all day today, stubbing pain in the lower right side, similar to ovulation pain. I'm 7w+3. Another question is, how do you contact a midwife? Some ladies on here say they contact their midwifes early into their pregnancy, but I haven't even had my first mw appt yet, I tried calling the hospital but goes to voicemail, should I just call 111? And what can this pain be anyway? A bit lost... Thank you in advance xx

You can sometimes get the midwifes number from your gp practice.
At your stage you could ring the early pregnancy unit for advice.
FWIW i had pains throughout my pregnancy and it was nothing sinister. I was just because everything was stretching.
If you get any bleeding with the pain or it becomes unbearable then you need to go to A&E just to check its not ectopic.

I had these pains and worried about ectopic so went to a walk in early pregnancy unit. It was nothing by the way just a bit of random pregnancy pain! Get it checked out if it gets worse though. This was all before I saw my MW which was at about 8 weeks.

Thank you fairgame, it was very helpful. Going to contact my gp tomorrow and get the mw's number. Probably nothing serious as you say, but good to have it just in case.

Thanks MissTwister, it's much better now, probably was one of those odd pains. I was actually considering a walk in epu today, then thought let's see if it gets any better and sure enough it did by the evening. Felt like ovulation pain exactly. Oh well I suppose I need to start getting used to pain Grin

I've found having MWs numbers useless to be frank - they never get back to you or pick up phone! When I've had a scare I went to the EPU and then the hospital day assessment centre after 18 weeks....

There are all sorts of random pregnancy pains no one can explain!!

bunny85 · 08/04/2015 22:05

That's really helpful, thanks!

Sorry MissTwister, I think I might have sent you a private msg by mistake! I was meant to post here to say that reassurance really helps when it comes to all these unexplainable twinges and niggles and pains as I'm such a worrier

I had pains similar to ovulation pains in early pregnancy too, currently 32 weeks now and everything looks good so far. Watch out for shoulder pains though in case of ectopic, and mention it to your midwife. Hope everything's ok!

I had horrible stabbing pains on the right side until I was about 10 weeks pregnant (barer of bad news - sorry!) I convinced myself it was ectopic or something sinister, turned out to be awful trapped wind! Blush Glamorous I know!
Totally underestimated how uncomfortable gas can be!
I saw the gp because I hadn't met my mw, thought she might think I was wasting her time but she was very reassuring and lovely.
Try not to worry but get checked for your own peace of mind x

Thanks girls, it's gone now. Oh tell me about the wind! Confused Actually wouldn't surprise me if it was that. Nevermind, it's part of the game!
