This is tricky to explain, so here goes....
When I sit down, particularly on more formal style straight back chairs (office and dining chairs), if I am sitting for anything more than a short while, when I go to get up, oh my word! Pain! It hurts when I get up, as my bum is being lifted off the seat if that makes sense, a weird pain at the very very bottom of my spine, so feels like the top of my bum, slightly off centre to the right (love a bit of detail) So if I sit at an angle or put my leg under my bum and sit on that it helps loads.
That sounds weird I know, has anyone else got this?? I think I vaguely remember it with my first but this is more regular and has been going since earlier in the pregnancy.

How wierd, I'm about 4 weeks along, 2nd pregnancy and I've got this too. It was one of my first symptoms although I didn't realise at the time. Just as you describe.

It is weird isn't it?! It was one of my first symptoms too, this time around, I remember it from before but much much later on, I'm now 18 weeks and it's still there, getting more frequent too. So annoying, especially when I'm in the office at work, sitting on my leg is the only way of stopping it and that looks a bit odd to everyone else :)
Congrats by the way!!

Could be sciatica, I've had it with both of mine though this time it came a lot earlier.

Also, I've got a really odd pain in the top of my bum crack (niiiiice!) that feels like a pulling/ripping pain. I've had it since dd was born and it comes and goes. I was laughed out of the drs with it so no real answer... Should probably go back and get it checked out!

yes i had a similar response from the midwife! Helpful!! She wasn't concerned at all.
It is really painful though isn't it.
Haha top of bum crack, is exactly where it is!! to the right a little.
How strange that you still have yours now.
You could be right on the sciatica thing, I don't know alot about it, cue me having a good ole google :)

I have this! I'm 20 weeks and for the last couple i've had this bruised feeling right at the top of my bum crack. I assume it related to sciatica as I have bad Back pain when I walk for more than a couple of minutes and and numbness in my thighs when I'm standing for a while. When I first got it I freaked out a bit. Reassuring to know others have the same!

MishMooshAndMogwai · 08/04/2015 23:30

Yes it is a bit of a bruise pain!
I don't think this pregnancy has made it worse it's just been on and off since dd was born 4 years ago. I'm blaming her, she must've damaged me on the way out!

Go and get some physio if you can, in my area it's self referral during pg and omg the feeling after bring clunked back into place is incredible!
I want the woman I've been seeing to move into my house and push me about every day Grin

The baby might be back to back, i had similar and 2 of mine were but not picked up on scans, only found out mid labour. Maybe ask the midwife, not sure how they can tell

I've got this too! I had it pre pregnancy but it's gotten so much worse in the last few weeks - mines not sciatica but something to do with the sacroiliac joint on the right side. Docs advice is to avoid things that make it hurt, like sitting for a long time, standing for a long time, kneeling, bending down... Hmm
