Hi everyone. I had my blood tests like you do when you first go to hospital, actually it was the DS screening bloods where they take four lots of it. Anyway, they all came back ok apart from the Down syndrome one hasn't come back yet....... Now I'm paranoid. Does this mean anything? Does it generally take longer than the others?? Anyone who can settle my brain??? Shock

I think the process is different where I am.

I had blood taking at my booking appointment (8 weeks), and got the results when I next saw my MW.

Are you then referring to the tests alongside your nichal fold measurement at your scan, or quad bloods at 15+ weeks? I had quad bloods done, and the hospital said I'd get a phone call within days if there was a problem (ie high risk) or a letter within a few weeks of low risk.

No news is generally good news I think.

Hi Anything, it was my 12 week scan and they did the DS screening.... It's those bloods.

I am naughty and because I'm terrified of needles I avoided first bloods at visit with MW Confused

Generally you don't hear anything unless there's something wrong no news is good news

moomoob · 08/04/2015 09:55

When did you have scan? I got a letter couple weeks later saying I was low risk they're in touch with you earlier by phone if there's a problem

DoctorDonnaNoble · 08/04/2015 10:05

I'm waiting for my results too. I had my test last Tuesday.

AnythingNotEverything · 08/04/2015 10:56

Honestly, no news is generally good news, but call the hospital if it's making you anxious.

I was told that if I didn't hear anything then that was good news. I got all my results at my 16 week midwife appointment

Mamabear14 · 08/04/2015 11:28

I had mine done at my scan and still hadn't had results back when I had my 16wk midwife check. She went and found them on the computer for me and I got the letter about a week later. I did get a big standard letter a week after the scan though just saying low risk, it was the detailed stuff I had to wait ages for

Stinkylinky · 08/04/2015 13:11

They didn't send my DS bloods off in time and I had to do them again with 1 day to spare.

I would call them to make sure they've actually been sent off.

KeepSmiling83 · 08/04/2015 13:37

I would chase it up if I were you. The same thing happened to me and I didn't ask until my 20 week scan. Turns out they had lost my samples and I had to have another test done. This then came back high risk and I ended up having an amnio around 23 weeks. It was a very stressful time. This time round I received a letter soon after the test but if I hadn't then I definitely would have chased it up much sooner!

scarednoob · 08/04/2015 13:37

as my friend said to me when i was petrified to let go of the phone in case it rang with bad news... if they find something bad, they don't hang around to tell you.

so hopefully it means all is well. but you could call if it is worrying you.

rosy189 · 08/04/2015 16:30

hey hun,

I wouldnt worry too much, if something is wrong they tell you right away, call them to chase up though to make sure they got it in the end

I didnt get my blood group results back for ages, I had a consultant worrying and asking if I had ever had a blood transfusion when she couldnt see it on my notes! turns out they had misplaced my sample...TWICE! D:
