Hello ladies, so I'm 40 exactly today and no sign of baby. Been in slow labour since Friday past and I am 1cm, and the cervix is slightly efficated and tilted. I have a hospital appoitment tomorrow and they said they will
Discuss a sweep, does this mean they will sweep me or I'll have to wait to get one? Thanks

Hi Gabrielle, I feel your pain! I'm 40+1 and had a sweep at midday today, also 1cm dilated, the midwife seemed confident baby will be here by Friday and she said to ring her if he wasn't here by then as we didn't arrange another appointment, but who knows.

I think it differs between areas when they will do a sweep, where I am (Bristol) they will sweep from due date onwards. It was uncomfortable but only slightly painful at one point, and didn't last long

Good luck, I hope things start happening for you soon

Baby will be here soon! They're not actually late for another couple of weeks - your due date is just an estimate.

The NICE guidelines state you can request a sweep from 40 weeks, so they should do one at your appointment if that's what you want. If they don't offer you one on the day you can request and mention the NICE guidelines Smile
Good luck!

Well I'm from Northern Ireland, so hopefully I get one seeing as I am in slow labour so I shall ask tomorrow. If I ask would they give it there and then do you think?
