So yeah- will I need to take my nipple piercings out during birth?
Also, anyone know (from experience) if the piercings will close up quickly without jewellery in?
Thanks

I had mine pierced for about ten years and decided it was time to retire them when I found out that I was pregnant. They closed up very quickly. I'd say within a day or so.

I've only had mine done a year..
I really want to keep them- there is no hope in hell that I'd get them re-pierced haha!
But the cons out-weigh the pros- breastfeeding, etc Sad

Yeah there's no way I would get them done again either. It might have been a while ago but I still remember the crushing chest pain immediately after I got them done! Realistically though, if you are thinking of breast feeding, you might as well just take them out now. I can't see it being an option to take them out/put them back in every four hours and your nipples will probably be sore enough! Don't get me wrong, I loved mine but baby comes first.

Yeah, I will be sad to see them go, but its easy to choose between which I'd rather!

I fully intended to hang onto mine, but I got to 20 weeks and my nipples had changed size and shape to the point where thy just weren't xomfortable. Also sore boobs tend to make catching them on anything like towels etc agony. I knew I'd find using retainers and taking them in and out all the time for feeding a pain, and uncomfortable, so although I was gutted, they healed up inside a day, but the relief was immense, and if I ever get the urge I can always get them done again. Your boobs do look naked without them to start with!

Missymum6 · 07/04/2015 05:57

I one done a few years back, around a week after I caught it in a seat belt and couldn't take the pain so I took it out, closed up within a day and no mark or scar. Don't know if thats because I didn't have it long thou. I just read the top part back... Just to clarify I wasn't naked in the car lol.

Could you breast feed after taking it out?

Snowflake15 · 07/04/2015 13:06

I've been meaning to ask the same! I love my piercingSad oh well!

Does anyone know if it affects bf? I've heard it doesn't but would love to hear rl experiences

cryingbabymess · 07/04/2015 17:46

I'm the same. I don't know if I want to take mine out or not. Part of me says yes as because my boobs and nipples are swollen the bar is kinda being eaten but on the other hand I'm nervous about taking it out as I don't think it's ever healed properly, had it done nearly 10 years! Shock

heatherxo · 07/04/2015 17:50

Mines have never been sore or caused discomfort (except after first getting them done!) so that's not a problem.
I'm 26 weeks now, so I'm starting to think about feeding, etc, but I would have loved to have kept them but not sure if it will be worth the bother taking them out every feed and then putting back in- even though I do plan on expressing too.
I'll be gutted to take them out but if its a must..

I'd take them out. Baby comes first, I would think it would be very uncomfortable to leak milk with piercings.

heatherxo · 07/04/2015 18:49

They won't cause problems with expressing- but obviously I need them out during breast feeding
