Evaporation line?

Hi there, I'm fairly new to this and I'm sure this has been posted 100 times before. I want to ask your opinions because I am a little stumped at the moment. I am currently 5 days overdue my period and have taken my first tests today. The first one was around 11am. However, I had to get back to work and completely forgot about it until I went back into my pocket (perhaps an hour to hour and a half later) and there was a strong pink line. However I don't know if it is an evap line or not. If I am pregnant I'll still be very early but would like your views on it. I took a test afterwards however it was a BFN. This is my first test here.

I don't know how well that photo is on here. The line is clear on the photo I took but not sure if the website makes the quality worse. Please let me know if I need to upload a better photo. Smile

Hey Bron!
I took my first test (it was Friday) and it looked exactly like yours. Took a second, which was negative.
I had a persistent urge to take another test, so did on the Wednesday after (5 days later) and both tests were clearly positive, I actually still have one with both lines clearly visible and I took the test on November 5th..
I suggest waiting a few days, like I did, and trying again. You never know!
Good luck:) xx

Hey guys! I'm so impatient! Haha. I have another test I can use tomorrow morning so will do that. If that is a BFN I shall wait perhaps a week until the next test. So confusing! x

A good way to tell is that an evap is usually grey and a positive is pink.
Did a line come up with the second test afte a while?

Bron26 · 07/04/2015 05:53

Morning ladies! Just an update. Tested this morning, think I see the faintest of lines bit not definitive. Think I'll just wait until the weekend until I test again.

Roseybee10 the line did only come up after a while. Should have mentioned previously that I had managed to glance at the test abouy 20 minutes in and there was nothing there so I left it. Which is the reason I am so confused :(

Hi, I'm not sure if this helps at all, with my first I took two test both bfp, because I didn't really believe I was I went and brought some superdrug ones and a clear blue, all were bfp apart from the clear blue. Dr said you can get a false neg but its unusual for a false positive and confirmed my preg. Out of curiosity I took a clear blue around a week or so later and was bfp... Very confusing. Keep us updated!!

It can all depend on time of day and concentration of your unite etc. they say test with first urine of the day as it is the most concentrated and therefore levels of hCG are at their highest. So it is possible to get a faint pos in the morning then neg later on after you've had a few drinks and urine (and hCG) is more dilute. (I do preg testing as part of my job :-) )

Thanks for all your feedback. Took another today even though said I wouldn't :( again though, line only appeared a good while after the intended time however was an extremely faint pink thick line. Still refusing to believe it though until I get a proper line in the time frame haha! Will keep you guys updated x

I'll have to buy one tomorrow. In the meantime - tests I had taken today. 4! These are the results but once again, these lines only appeared after about 20/30 minutes.

Bron I found with IC tests that the background went pinkie when wet so I couldn't see the line until it had dried. Even then it was a squinter. Maybe go and get a FRER?

My squinty line that took ages to be visible is now kicking my bladder.

Bron26 · 17/04/2015 21:34

Hi ladies, had an extremely faint line tonight within the time frame. Could this really be it?

Do you have another one to test first thing in the morning? That will give you a much more reliable answer.

BifsWif · 17/04/2015 22:11

How late is your period now?

Test with another test first thing tomorrow and you should have a clear answer.

Good luck Smile

Bron26 · 17/04/2015 22:14

I second using a first response test, they're really good.
