Hi, my wife and I are pregnant with a long awaited second child (5 years trying) wife has had a few bleeds so far and we have twice had internal scans showing all is ok. Over the past few days she has become really worried about her lack of symptoms despite having sore boobs and feeling sick prevously. She is very worried and I thought I would ask here instead of constantly asking her and making things worse. 12 week scan booked in for Wed 15th April. Any ideas??

Hiya,

My symptoms really changed at the 10 week mark. The nausea vanished - but then returned for the odd day. My boobs were still sore but not as sensitive. It did worry me me as I'd had a previous miscarriage, but I'd had an early scan and had seen the heart beat, and other people seemed to find their symptoms changed at 10/11/12 weeks. The 12 week scan showed everything was fine and I'm now 31 weeks along.

All the best to you and your wife - it's a scary journey at times but her body could be just shifting into the next phase of development with the placenta doing more meaning her symptoms will change. I hope the scan goes well and that the wait isn't too torturous.

Thank you for your response its very reassuring. I think because symptoms were so bad last time the concern is that nothing is happening.!

If she is really worrying about it, id say go up the early pregnancy unit for a scan and for peice of mind. Hope everything's all ok, it's very common for syptoms to suddenly stop and start so please try not to panic x

I never had any nausea but my boobs definitely eased off at around 9 weeks and caused me no end of panic! But all is fine. I am sure nothing to worry about and not long to wait until your scan but if she is worried I would say give the midwife a call as there is nothing worse than worrying and feeling like you can't ask.

Oh and in terms of symptoms being different to first pregnancy - I think that is pretty common. A friend sailed through her first pregnancy and then felt like crap the whole way through her second so I think it is normal to have different experiences.

My boob soreness came and went constantly in the first trimester and I was forever prodding them to check.

Perfectly normal. I have just hit the 10 week mark and my symptoms have vanished. Boobs are not as sensitive anymore and I dont feel the need to curl up on the sofa 6 times a day. :)

Don't take my word totally about this but I think I read somewhere that the placenta has developed and starts to take over at about the 10 week point, which might be a reason for women feeling better/less sick at this point.
