Spotting at nearly 8 weeks

Hi I'm not sure what to do, I'm nearly 8 weeks along and over the last 24 hours I've had a little bit of spotting. I've also had slight aches and twinges in my lower stomach, if it wasn't for the spotting I wouldn't think anything of this (this is my third pregnancy and I've had similar aches before and been fine).

I'm really scared this is the start of a miscarriage as I've never had any spotting before but not sure what to do now. GP is shut as its Easter and it seems a bit extreme to go to hospital - it would be rubbish to wait ages and then have to go home without a scan. Anyone got any advice or been in this situation before? Thanks

I know it's hard, but try not to panic. I had spotting at 4, 8 and 11 weeks - kind if around the time I would have been having periods. It's pretty common.

When you say spotting, what colour is it and how much? Mine was generally pink or brown. I honestly know how horrible and scary this must be for you but it doesn't necessarily mean that things are going wrong.

I had pinkish brown spotting at 11 weeks for roughly 8 days,
I contacted the epau and was given a scan, if you have major concerns you will have to take yourself down to a&e but I doubt you will get scanned until Tuesday with it being bank holiday weekend, put a pad on in the meantime an monitor the colour, loss
Hope things go well OP Flowers

Thanks so much for the replies. Yesterday there was a tiny bit of pinkish / red discharge when I wiped, earlier today a bit of brownish (and I have been monitoring it very closely!)

Thanks for confirming I shouldn't dash down to a&e, I'm guessing given the tiny amount and the fact it isn't (at the moment) proper bleeding they wouldn't do anything anyway.

Tiny amounts and pink/brown sounds like what I had. If it stays brown, that's older blood so a bit less scary.
Take it easy, look after yourself and fingers crossed for you.

Thanks so much for your reassurance

Best advice is just to call your local early pregnancy unit and hopefully they'll get you booked in for a scan on Tuesday, to set your mind at ease. I had spotting from weeks 6-9 and then a couple of other occasions of it at 10 and 11 weeks. Scans at 6+2 and 8+2 showed everything fine and now 18 weeks.

Epu said spotting can be very common. Hope it all works out for you

I had that kind of spotting at about 7 weeks and again at 14ish. Pink/red on the tissue when I wiped, like when your period's on the way. It never developed into proper bleeding, stopped after a day or two and all was well. Try to relax, chances are you will be fine

Thanks for the positive stories, will try to give EPU a call.
