umbilical hernia

I'm 14 weeks pregnant with dc2. Directly above my belly button I have a largeish lump that comes and goes but is very painful to touch or when I bend, lift ds1 etc. It swelled up yesterday and it actually hurt to breathe for about an hour then was really sore for the rest of the day/evening.

I'm pretty sure it's an umbilical hernia (opinion of best friend who is a midwife and another friend who is a physio) I'm going to go to gp this week but I just wondered if anyone else had had a hernia in this area and how it progressed throughout pregnancy? I'm worried it's only going to get worse as I get bigger!

I had one but it wasn't very painful and I got it repaired long after I'd finished having children. The bump will carry on putting pressure on it so I don't think you could get it repaired now.
