Posting on behalf of my sister....
She had 20 week scan on 30th March....was told everything was ok. Today she's got a letter saying she needs to go for a more detailed scan on baby on 10th of april.
She's 17, 1st baby, just found out she has a problem with her heart (heart murmur from birth so is going to be monitored during labour, still low risk).
I'm 24 weeks with 3rd baby and ive never heard of a follow up letter coming in post, any experience welcomed. Thank you in advance

Sorry heart murmur from birth but now possible hole in heart...posted too early. Said they are just keeping a close eye on her for now x

I have holes in my heart too. They will want a derailed scan on babies heart as it can be inherited. Could be that the sonographer didn't know to do it at the time.

Thank you. Hopefully that will be the case. Hope your well. X

Yes thanks, 2 babies and no issues for us. Hope your sister is ok too.

It's good practice when there's a family history of structural heart problems, like your sister, to be offered a routine anomaly scan at 20 weeks and then a detailed cardiac scan around 22-24 weeks.

Thank you, that's reassuring. She got her results from heart scan after babies ultrasound scan so that must be why she wasn't told of follow up scan x
