I have loads of forms to fill in before the appointment but would should I expect to happen at the midwife appointment, I will only be 8 weeks at the time? This is my first baby so unsure! Thank you

They'll probably take your bloods, ask for any medical history in your family, your history and your partners. Book you in for your 12 week scan, check your blood pressure and book you in for your 16 week appointment. Also make any referrals to a consultant if needed.

Everyone's booking in is different though, as every town is different. My midwives are based at my doctors

You will be given your set of notes which is usually a large A4 size booklet which you need to take to future appointments and each person you see will add info. Starting with the midwife adding history as said above. Bloods will check that your immune levels are where they should be and that you're not anaemic along with confirming blood type.
From the dates of your last period they will work out when to book you for a 12 wk scan which can actually be up to 14 wks 1 day and ask if you want the Nt check which works out the risk of downs syndrome. They will go over some do's and don't, like which foods to avoid and what supplements to take like folic acid.
Also it's your first chance to ask any questions you may have or any concerns so maybe note things down if you think of anything between now and then as it's easy to forget once you're there.
