I'm currently 25 weeks with twins and my appetite is still pretty much the same as pre-pregnancy.

Everyone keeps telling me it won't last, but for how long can I keep enjoying this phase? When did everyone find they had to start reducing portion size and do little and often instead?

Reason I'm really interested is my birthday is coming up on the 17th and I'm planning on visiting my favourite restaurant for it, really hoping my appetite won't tail off before I get to indulge!!

Mine just stayed the same! Ie, huge. My baby always sat very low down though so maybe that's why, I didn't get the experience of him crushing my ribs etc higher up etc.

Congratulations!

Floopledoop · 02/04/2015 11:17

Congratulations!

Same as pp for me. I ate loads throughout the whole 9 months. Bf DS now so still ravenous!

PazRaz1975 · 02/04/2015 11:24

I ate the same all the way through. I often feel very full by the end of the day, but I just can't stop eating!

madreloco · 02/04/2015 11:28

I can barely eat at all and have been this way from the start. It's depressing.

CoodleMoodle · 02/04/2015 11:29

I ate very little at first as I was constantly nauseous. Then that suddenly went away and I could eat, and I didn't stop! I stayed with DM for a bit near the end (DH and I were waiting for our current house to be sorted) and reverted back to my teenage years - "Muuuummmm, I'm hungry!" "YOU'VE JUST HAD LUNCH!" etc.

She still says she can't believe how much I ate when I was pregnant. DH says he didn't notice. I did, I was permanently starving!

ladylily29 · 02/04/2015 11:31

I have lost my appetite completely. Husband keeps bringing me tasty offerings but I don't enjoy anything at the moment. I'm 12 weeks.

RugBugs · 02/04/2015 11:31

Since about wk17 I've had to ease off on starchy carbs. They just sit there for hours. Baby is upright though so his big fat head is in the way.

MinionDave · 02/04/2015 11:48

Congratulations! My babies are nearly 9 and 10 and I'm still waiting for my appetite to subside Grin

sianihedgehog · 02/04/2015 13:05

I was profoundly starving for the entire first trimester, but since about 18 weeks I can't physically get a normal sized meal in. I also can't eat at all unless I sit bolt upright now (22 weeks) so I'm kinda glad of all the additional weight I piled on in the first trimester.

FructoseTart · 02/04/2015 13:14

Last night when I ordered a medium dominos pizza and could only manage 4 slices!! Hmm

Had the rest for breakfast of course....

FructoseTart · 02/04/2015 13:15

Oh I'm 28 wks

piglet81 · 02/04/2015 13:28

I'm 35 weeks and still stuffing my face. Greedy guts! ;-)

SewSlapdash · 02/04/2015 13:34

At 41.5 weeks I INHALED a large Big Mac meal in about 10 seconds. Basically, I never got to the point where I couldn't eat as much. Raging reflux whatever so there was no point eating sensibly.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 02/04/2015 14:18

I'm 19 weeks. I don't feel sick anymore, but I'm finding it really hard to eat normal sized meals. My appetite has just vanished. I'm getting a bit worried because my weight isn't really going up that much.

Tranquilitybaby · 02/04/2015 16:30

28 weeks here.

skinnylegs33 · 02/04/2015 16:35

16 weeks - breathing after a big meal was tricky. Sent me into panic a few times

Superexcited · 02/04/2015 16:38

My appetite has been very reduced from about 6 weeks (now 12 weeks). I haven't had any sickness or very much nausea, I just have a reduced appetite. I have lost over half a stone in weight and I hope my appetite increases soon.

Gillian1980 · 02/04/2015 18:40

Morning sickness reduced my appetite between 7-15 weeks. Then it came back with a vengeance! From about 18 weeks I've been struggling to eat normal size portions as I feel too full. I'm 19+6 now and my eyes are much bigger than my tummy!

TakesTwoToTango · 02/04/2015 19:37

First trimester I can't eat as much due to nausea but from about 16 weeks on until delivery both times I had no problem eating, and eating, and eating!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 02/04/2015 19:45

I barely ate anything, first trimester because of morning sickness, second because I wasn't hungry, once I hit 32 weeks I couldn't stop eating and now at 40+10 my appetite is pretty much the same as it was pre pregnancy.

Minion · 02/04/2015 19:48

I found that from the moment that second line came up I was full after just a few bites. Didn't put on much weight and got back into my jeans 4 days after c-sec, which was great however I blame myself for my small dd and the fact shes now a crap eater.

Irrational I know.

avocadotoast · 02/04/2015 20:29

Around about now! Or for the past week at least (I'm 33+5). Baby has finally beaten my stomach into submission I think.

I do still eat a lot, and I'm hungry all the time, but I can't eat as much at a time.

So enjoy it while you can OP, it is very sad when you can't eat as much!

Rebecca1608 · 02/04/2015 20:51

27 weeks tomorrow and also pregnant with twins. The last couple of weeks I've not been able to eat much at all.

Bex174 · 02/04/2015 21:33

So I have a bit of hope left for my birthday yet then! Phew...

But to be honest I'm kinda wanting it to tail off a little bit, right now I'm just ravenous all the time and indulge it possibly too much. Also doesn't help that my other half is being far too good to me right now and buying special 'pregnancy treats' of chocolate, hot cross buns, Apple pies, and pretty much anything I see on the M&S ads and say looks delicious...

Trying to keep my eating on the level though as with two, I may end up pretty big at the end stages without all my extra snacks and treats on top!
