feta-induced panicking

help! i had lunch from a salad bar place today and had feta cheese. now i am panicking because i don't know if it was pasteurised or not. i am feeling more guilty than if i'd knocked back 3 bottles of wine, some hard drugs and a packet of marlboro reds!

should i call the hospital? or am i totally overreacting?!

You are over reacting. Relax. Gets is fine and will most likely be pasteurised. In the extraordinarily unlikely event it's not, it's still very unlikely to do you any harm.

Go sit down and relax. It's all good ??

TinyMonkey · 31/03/2015 15:50

Yes, you are totally overreacting. Of course it was pasteurised.

googietheegg · 31/03/2015 15:51

It's most likely to be pasteurised if it seemed quite 'square' rather than all crumbly and artisan looking. Either way, it's likely to be fine.

TurnOverTheTv · 31/03/2015 15:52

Of course it was. Calm down Grin

Feta bought in the UK is pasturised... I have to say I haven't once checked this when buying it and have been eating feta throughout the pregnancy, am now 32 weeks

batfish · 31/03/2015 15:58

I've been eating feta by the bucket load, it isn't on the naughty list so don't stress! I've eaten brie too before I realised it is on the list but I appear to still be alive.

scarednoob · 31/03/2015 15:59

Ah thanks ladies, I feel so much better now!!

I ate a giant tub of feta without an ounce of guilt, you will be fine Grin

Providore · 31/03/2015 16:27

You should read Zoe Williams article in The Guardian the other day about non-evidence based advice received during pregnancy. Look it up; you'll feel much better after reading it!

scarednoob · 31/03/2015 16:49

that article was excellent, thank you. i also found the ingredients list on the shop's website, and it specifically says they use pasteurised milk, so hopefully i've just added to my grey hairs (which i can't dye!) for nothing.

Scared, you need to go research actual pregnancy food. Read, "pregnancy for modern girls". It has useful information that allows you to make decisions yourself. Spending 9 months terrified of everything is not helpful for you or baby v

bling, you are totally right. the weird thing is that in every other area of life i am so chilled out and nothing bothers me - pregnancy has made me a total nervous wreck!

scared you can dye you hair. I've been dying mine throughout my pregnancy. Honestly, it's fine!
