No appt for 12 week scan

I've had a couple of scans already, due to spotting. The last one was at ten weeks, and the sonographer told me I needed another one in two weeks, which would have put it at Saturday just gone. I haven't had an appt yet, but phoned last week to check if a letter had got lost in the post. They said they'd send a letter when appt will come.

Do you think that they've decided just not to give me a 12 week scan now, considering I had one at 10 weeks? Or is it just going to be a bit late?

Thanks in advance.

You should have an appointment by now. I had a scan at 10 weeks due to spotting and still had my 12 week scan (although it was actually closer to 13 weeks).

Dating scans don't have to be exactly 12 weeks they can be anywhere between 8-14 weeks :)

Ah, okay. Thanks for the replies. I didn't want to phone again and be that woman.

Yes, mine was at 14 weeks. They can do the nuchal measurement until 14+1 weeks. So chase up but don't worry too much.

Phone again, they're cutting it very fine. Chances are someone different will answer the phone any way ;)

Mine is tomorrow-exactly 14 weeks. My midwife friend said the NHS are running behind due to staff cuts

Don't forget the easter holidays and the bank holidays always delay things too.

NickyEds · 30/03/2015 20:24

I wish I'd been that woman. Mine was delayed due to general cock ups and I had the scan at 13+5. Baby wasn't playing ball at all the nt measurement couldn't be taken. Ordinarily they would have you back for a repeat scan but as the scan fell on a Friday they couldn't. As they couldn't do the nt there was no point in doing the combined screening so I had to wait until 15 weeks to have the quad blood test. Everything was fine but it was quite stressful and it would have just been better if they could have got me in time.

Quick question, am about 7 weeks with child two, made booking in apt today which isn't until I'm 12 weeks. Receptionist said they'd probably send for scan in between? Don't want to wait until I'm 14 weeks or something before I have a scan! Am in England - will they book a scan having not seen me?

NickyEds · 30/03/2015 21:18

That doesn't really sound good enough goodenough. In my area they don't book you in very early (they won't see you before 7/8 weeks i think) but they definitely do the booking in appointment first and the mw arranges your scan. It may be different in other areas but don't you need your notes so that they can put the scan report into them?

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 31/03/2015 11:17

I would phone the hospital and ask goodenough x
