How many weeks?

Can anyone help me?

On the 24th Feb I got a positive clear blue pregnancy test saying 2-3 weeks.

so would be nearly 7-8 weeks now.

But when I rang to book my MW appointment they added 2 weeks on.

I understand this is because they go from the first day of your last period but does this remain like this? am I classed as 9-10 weeks?

Will the scan then knock me back down to the lesser weeks?

My last pregnancy was terminated due to Edwards syndrome and I want to be prepared for the baby measuring smaller than I expect.

I hope some of this makes sense!!

Have you been having periods? They'll usually work it out from your last period if you have.
It's tricky because clear blues are notoriously unreliable for accurate dating but yes they would add 2 weeks on and keep it like that.

They would then probably go by the measurements on your scan.

Yes to periods but I don't know when! Probably 20 something of Jan.

So I would be classed as 9-10 weeks now and then more than likely 7-8 weeks if I was to be scanned now?

Well hopefully you should measure at 9-10 weeks too as that's what you'll be using their dating system.

It's tricky though as people often measure slightly bigger or smaller than their dates - no two babies are the same size after all.

Perhaps if you discuss your previous pregnancy with them they'll want an extra scan to check on growth? Sorry for your loss in your last pregnancy.

Best thing to do it to stick your LMP date into a due date predictor and it will tell you due date and how many weeks. That's what I did!

If your last period was 20 something of January then you'd be between 7 1/2 and 9 weeks pregnant. Depending on if it started on 20th or 29th.
But it also depends on when you ovulated and when the egg implanted, so it's not exact.

Ok thank you very much Smile

I forgot how much each precious week day means to me in early pregnancy

Clear blue weeks are "conception" indicators. So 2-3 on clearblue means 2-3 since conception.

Medical practice and maternity services count pregnancies from 2 weeks before then. Amd that's what you'll go by throughout. So when you go for your 12 week scan, you are actually 10 weeks since conception, but the sonographer and everyone else (including you) should use the regular 12 weeks terminology and your baby will be measured for what it should be at 12 weeks in maternity services terms I.e. 10 weeks since conception.

It's the same for every person on earth :-) I am 8 weeks now. Yes, technically I am 6 weeks since conception, but there's no reason to remember or go by that. I am 8 weeks since last period, at this stage my foetus should measure 1.6 cm and it does, so all is good :)

I suggest you forget clearblue and go by what everyone else in the practice goes by I.e. Weeks since last period. Your baby should measure what I needs to measure at that point in your pregnancy, you don't need to and nobody needs to adjust anything down to your conception date.

I was hoping that was the case Smile
