I used to be able to sleep in like a pro. At the weekends I definitely wouldn't wake up until at least 9am but now...
Wide awake at 7am. Why?!

Also during the week I keep waking up at 4.30-5. I manage to go back to sleep but it disturbs my sleep. Why is this? (I'm 11 weeks 4 days).

Morning!

I'm 10 weeks today and could have written your post - wide awake at 6:45am when I normally wake about 9ish on the weekend.

Week days seem to be worse - I have a habit of waking about 4-5am, dropping back off at around 6:30am and then the alarm goes off at 7:30am.

Maybe it's preparation for what lies ahead? Smile

Am happy to be corrected but from a vague memory of a class I went to, it's because your prolactin levels peak at around 4am in late pregnancy (that's the hormone responsible for milk production). So I guess in a way its preparing you for what's to come as 4am seems to be a really common feed time in newborns. With dd it was just feed all the time rather than specific times though!

thesmallbear · 28/03/2015 07:42

In my case it's usually because I need a wee!

I don't know what causes it but 4am awakenings seem to be common in pregnancy (no scientific survey but from asking friends this seems to be true). Enjoy it while you can-I'm now 32 weeks and am waking arôubd 1.30am instead :(

LOLZ
Enjoy all that lovely sleep you're getting!

pickwickcrocus · 28/03/2015 07:44

Oh ive just read how far along you are- so I don't know is my other answer! Unless you will be a milk making machine and your prolactin levels are already affecting sleep!

I'm 27+6 and use to sleep in to 9! But hey ho I'm up at 7 now no idea why it's a pain in the arse lol

MrsMugoo Smile I can see a lot of people thinking "Just you wait ..."

Trickytricky · 28/03/2015 08:16

Thanks all! I did say to DH perhaps it's just my body preparing me for lack of sleep!
