Skinny and showing early

I'm currently awaiting confirmation of how far along I am as I have no idea myself.
I am guessing I may be about ten weeks but not sure at all.
My booking appointment is a week today with hopefully a scan to follow shortly after that.
Before falling pregnant I was a 6-8 and can definitely notice a bump.
I am doing a volunteer placement as part of a course and embarrassingly someone has already asked me am I pregnant (it's not public yet and the mother of one of DP's colleagues also works in this place). BlushBlushBlush
Now I'm wondering whether if I'm much further along than I thought!
When did any of you skinny girls start to show??

Hiya.
I'm not skinny, far from it, but I developed a very noticeable bump at about 7-8 weeks which was actually bloating.
It calmed down after a couple of weeks and I then didn't properly start to show until about 16 weeks or so.
I think it's pretty common to get the bloat early on but it not actually be a baby bump.

I was a 6-8 and struggled with clothes from about eight weeks as was really bloated, looked like I had a small bump. I just wore looser tops until I had my scan, didn't actually start to properly show till about 17weeks. Felt massive then but looking back it was tiny lol

brokencrayons · 26/03/2015 19:08

I was size 6 with my son but had abs. Didn't show until I was about 16 weeks ( he was my second) I'm now a 10-12 and preg with number 3 and searching for my bump under a pooch of Chubb! Lol

insancerre · 26/03/2015 19:09

I was skinny, a 6-8 and actually didn't start to show toll about 19 weeks
But I did have hyperemesis, so didn't put any weight on, apart from the baby
I didn't really start to show till I stopped being sick

irishamy89 · 26/03/2015 19:27

I'm already wearing H & M maternity clothes! !
Definitely not really big or anything but I was so taken aback when this colleague (pretty much a stranger to me) asked me the Q!!
I'll probably get to the scan and it will be twins. Haha!! Confused

can't be as bad as me early on i was sent to the hospital with a wierd bloated abdomen, a gynaecologist examined me and her and a coleague were certain i was 20-22 weeks pregnant! I had a scan the next day i was 6 weeks Hmm never found out what caused it! have evened out now at 36 weeks..

I've known skinny women whos bumps are tiny and ones who show early so can't be much help i'm afraid!

Roseybee10 · 26/03/2015 22:35

I showed quicker with my first when I was a 12-14. I was showing by about 12 weeks.
With my second I was a size 8 and didn't start showing til after 20 weeks.

Superexcited · 27/03/2015 07:27

I have a bump and I'm only 10 weeks (third baby though). I'm usually a size 10. It isn't normal weight gain as I have actually lost half a stone since getting pregnant.
Apparently at 10 weeks the uterus has gone from being the size of a pear to the size of a grapefruit so although baby is teeny it isn't hard to see why some people have a bump at 10 weeks.

mumxof3x · 27/03/2015 08:52

Size 6-8 pre pregnancy didnt show till quite late, family didnt know till 23-24 weeks and they hadnt guessed. Im now 32+3 (4th baby) and still dont look that pregnant tbh I just look like ive put a stone on lol. But I do remember with my first baby size 6 I got a round belly even before I tested, it did go down eventually, it was just bloat etc but I looked very preg indeed.

squizita · 27/03/2015 09:58

Size 8-10 with a flat tummy (no more lol!Wink ) ... started to show at about 16 weeks. But I have a big pelvis/hips for my size. Think that influences it a lot!

irishamy89 · 27/03/2015 10:07

Reading all these responses is making me more impatient for my first booking appointment.
I need to wait until next Thursday.
Hopefully I get a scan asap after that so I can definitively find out how far gone I am!!!!! Grin

...p's. My "no more lol" quip is in the context of a small baby, still recovering and getting back to more active life. Smile I know plenty of mums who aren't gym addicts and look toned and healthy!Grin

WindYourBobbinUp · 27/03/2015 15:23

I didn't show until about 20 weeks with my first, and actually people still didn't notice - I had a colleague notice at 33 weeks. I'm an 8 but slightly taller than average, don't know if that matters. I thought I was massive though!

My midwife tells me this won't happen with my 2nd as the muscles are stretched. I'm 9 weeks now but nothing yet!

wowiesis111 · 27/03/2015 15:58

Hi
I'm skinny as you put it. Normally size 8 and 5ft 6.
With first pregnant I had tummy muscles and therefore didn't show properly until 20 weeks but this time around ( with no tummy muscles left to speak of) I was showing at 6 weeks. Luckily it was cold in November/December so the long scarves helped hide it.
I tend to make teeny babies too ( first was a dot and this one is also due to be on the small side too.
Perhaps wear some baggy tops or a nice spring type scarf.
It's funny as people keep commenting on how big I am this time yet consultant says he's a small one. It's being slim the baby and all sticks out more. I don't have a wide frame either so definitely sticking out in front. Not too long to go and you can hopefully let the car out the bag. I was so pleased to get to 12 weeks so I could breathe and bit have to hide any more.

irishamy89 · 27/03/2015 16:09

Hi Wowiesis!
I was 6-8 and I'm only about 5"2!!!
I cannot wait for the twelve week scan, luckily my voluntary placement is in a school and it's now easter break so I may have had my twelve week scan by the time I see these people again! !Blush

I started showing at 7 weeks! I'm 5'2 and was a size 4-6 pre pregnancy. Showed so much that the midwife questioned if I was having twins at booking! And it was definitely bump, not bloat; I looked like I was smuggling a VW beetle by the end of it! I was ALL baby, and I was back in my jeans 4 days after birth Grin

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 28/03/2015 08:34

I was a size 6 pre-pregnancy and had some really bad bloating in the first 8 weeks. I didn't properly show to others though until I was about 23 weeks but I think it's to do with your body shape. I have a long torso (and short legs Hmm) so there was more room iyswim.
