30grams of chocolate (1 oz) has 13 mg of caffeine (says Google). I bet a small Mars bars has no more than one oz of chocolate coating. Could be far less.

I'm really sensitive to caffeine & it would still affect me (argh).

Thank you. Just looked at the wrapper and a Mars bar is 51mg, so possibly 20mg of caffine, max? Had a cuppa tea too, so I'm probably up to about 100mg today...so still 'safe' :)

That must be difficult being that sensitive to caffine!

I've never even considered counting chocolate. I know it has caffeine but you'd have to eat a lot to have negative effects no (I may have inhaled a whole Easter egg the other day...)

It wouldn't even cross my mind to worry about this, although I'm onto dc2 and in general have a much more laissez-faire attitude than with dc1. Nhs guidelines suggest a 50g bar of milk choc would have approx 25mg. The amount of actual chocolate on Mars bar is small so caffeine will be slight. Won't bring you anywhere near the 200mg recommended daily limit.

God I'm a terrible pregnant lady, I scoffed a whole Easter egg the other day as well and it didn't even cross my mind about caffeine - and I'm still having my cup of coffee every morning and the very occasional coke. I've cut down from 2 cups of coffee though so was quite pleased with myself Smile

Chillax, it's tea and chocolate, not heroin!

I really wouldn't worry.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/03/2015 19:07

A Mars will have almost no caffeine. The caffeine in chocolate is really only an issue in dark chocolate, milk chocolate has very little, especially the sort of cheap milk chocolate on a Mars bar. The cocoa solids are very low. I really really would not remotely worry about the caffeine content of a Mars (and I am very sensitive to caffeine).

Wolfiefan · 26/03/2015 19:08

I didn't drink lots of coffee, tea or cola when pg. It never occurred to me to consider chocolate or count up the mg! Take a chill pill (caffeine free!) Grin

Eh? Do people really worry about stuff like this?!

FWIW, I'm a 2l of coke a day person, and I've still managed to successfully grow 3 babies.

Honestly, relax. Lay off the hard drugs, the fgs and the alcohol and the rest will look after itself Grin

monkeyfacegrace · 26/03/2015 19:21

*fags even.

If you're counting the caffiene in chocolate, you are way way way overthinking all of this.
You'd have to eat a KILO of milk chocolate to hit 200mg, (its approx 20mg per 100grams) which is btw already a totally random low amount of caffiene as a daily limit anyway.

A mars bar is 58g total, milk chocolate makes up 40%. So 23g of milk chocolate is.....what, about 5mg?

If you ate enough mars bars to have caffiene problems, you'd be in a diabetic coma. Do you eat 40 mars bars a day?

In other words STOP the crazy!

I was working off pre-shrinkage weights! Even better then, llama Wink

ragged · 27/03/2015 10:11

No No, Guybrush. Play it safe & send the Mars Bar to ME. It's a sacrifice but I am nobly offering to do quality control. Grin

Bex174 · 27/03/2015 21:05

Chocolate has caffeine in it? Oops!!!

My craving has been dark chocolate, at least 70% or it's just like eating a glass of milk to my taste buds right now...

Good job I switched to decaf tea and coffee to give me a bit more leeway!
