hi, i'm new here..
I missed my menses and so I decided to check if im pregnant, and it came out positive. out of curiosity, I went to the doctor to check and it turned out to be negative. I didn't inform the doctor that I've check a day before and it's positive.
I was abit devastated but still was hoping for a better results when I meet my gynae.

I was abit confident that i'm pregnant cause my tummy was bloated Ive gained weight (I'm currently on a strict fruits&veggie diet) and my body was feeling different apart from having cramps on someday since I missed my menses

before I could meet my gynae, I started bleeding. (Black and bright red blood)
I'm having cramps and nausea.. Sad

im starting to think that I've miscarriage.. but I'm still hoping for a better answer.. This is my 1st time getting pregnant..

advises please..

Hi, sorry but it does sound like you may have been pg. but why didn't you tell your gp about the +ve test? How many days late were you when you tested? It would be unusual to have a high enough hormone level to test positive one day on a home test, but then too low to detect the following day on a blood test. Again, I'm so sorry it doesn't appear to be how you wanted it to turn up, you must be devastated. :(

fyaziela28 · 26/03/2015 08:24

hi! Thank you for replying..

i was 9 days late.. i didn't know what was I thinking not telling the doctor that I've checked the day before.. i guess I wanted it to be a surprise for me..
he only told me that i'm having stomach flu and that i'm not pregnant. by the time I was too devastated to even say anything..
yesterday, exactly after 10 days I experience abnominal pain and I realised that i'm bleeding.
I've done some research about being pregnant and having menses at the same time.. It could be possible.. but most conclusion are lead to miscarriage.. Sad

Firstly, what test did you do when you got a positive?

How long after the test did you read the result and how clear was the line?

HoppityVoosh · 26/03/2015 10:55

If you had a positive test then you were/are pregnant. You're now bleeding which is a worry. Do you know if there is an early pregnancy unit you could go to to get checked out?

HoppityVoosh · 26/03/2015 10:57

I have also heard that the tests some doctors use aren't as sensitive as some shop bought ones so that could be why it came up negative at the docs.

Grantaire · 26/03/2015 11:01

Are you in pain? What is the bleeding like now? You said it was black. Is this normal for you? It is possibly a miscarriage but I think you should ask for an epu referral and scan. Dark blood loss and pain at this point can occasionally be a sign of ectopic, particularly with pos and neg tests.

I am sorry you are going through this.

Number3cometome · 26/03/2015 11:15

A positive result does not mean you were pregnant if it was not read within the time - there is always scope for evap lines and flooding the test too.

Try not to panic just yet - it may well have been the sensitivity of the test, or a false result in the first place.

Either way it is absolutely gutting, but not always a CP or MC.

I do think you should have told your doc you had a positive - they would have been able to send you for a blood test which is much more reliable than any test.

Number3cometome · 26/03/2015 11:16

How far past your period was you when you got the positive?

Grantaire · 26/03/2015 13:44

Number, she said she was 9 days late.

fyaziela28 · 26/03/2015 14:17

hi alls!

I tested 5 times. twice using the digital kit & 3 times using the normal kit..
For the digital kit, it took 10-15 second & 5-7 mins for the normal kit..

im still experiencing abnominal pain with bleeding. currently my blood is a mixture of bright red and black.

I'm not sure should If I should see the doctor now, or wait for my bleeding to stop..

This might sound crazy, but I think i felt a very slow heartbeat around my abnominal. I even asked my siblings and my husband to touch it. and they felt it too. so, Im kinda confident that i'm pregnant.

There wouldn't be a heartbeat so early on in pregnancy Sad. Sorry.

Is it normal for you to have black blood/ abdominal pain when you have a period? I echo other posters that you need to see someone fairly urgently to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

scarednoob · 26/03/2015 14:34

i think positive then negative tests CAN be a sign of an ectopic. please go and have it checked out, just to be sure. fingers crossed for you.

TheSingingMonkey · 26/03/2015 14:36

You can't feel a heartbeat, it's impossible.

If you're not bleeding after a positive test then I would see your GP again or phone your nearest early pregnancy unit.

TheSingingMonkey · 26/03/2015 14:36

*Are bleeding I meant, sorry.

fyaziela28 · 26/03/2015 14:51

Black colour blood is not normal for me.. This would be my 1st time..

really? no heartbeat? Sad

OP posts:
TheSingingMonkey · 26/03/2015 14:55

I don't understand. How would you feel a heartbeat?

A heartbeat wouldn't show up on scan until 6-7 weeks pregnant at the earliest. Midwives don't even check it with a Doppler until 16 weeks and some areas even later as it's too hard to pick it up.

fyaziela28 · 26/03/2015 14:56

oh noo not ectopic pregnancy.. thats scary! Sad Sad Confused

OP posts:
Grantaire · 26/03/2015 16:01

Don't be scared. Be informed. Phone your GP and explain you've had positive pregnancy tests and you are now experiencing pain and dark bleeding. You need to see somebody today. Now.

Your local early pregnancy unit might even accept walk in cases and if so you should go straight there before it closes for the day.

scarednoob · 26/03/2015 17:56

^ i can't agree more, and i say that as someone who is the biggest ostrich on the planet when it comes to facing up to scary medical stuff. please get checked out - hopefully you will be absolutely fine and it's just a heavy period, but at least you'll know.

fyaziela28 · 26/03/2015 20:12

Thank you all!!
I've booked for an appointment for tomorrow.. crossed finger I hope it will be good news.. hopefully nothing bad..

An ectopic pregnancy need not be particularly scary.....IF it's picked up on in time. If it isn't, then yes, it can be extremely scary. So, please, get it checked out tomorrow if you haven't already today.

stubbornstains · 26/03/2015 20:13

Oh, x-post....that's good OP. Wishing you luck for tomorrow.

HoppityVoosh · 26/03/2015 21:05

But Number the OP didn't say it was an evap or outwith the time limit. She said it was a positive test. A positive test means she's pregnant. If the OP says it's positive who are we to say it's not?! I'm sure she read the instructions.

Good luck for tomorrow OP Flowers
